well according the megans website megan racing [meganracing.com], they have several muffler designs to choose from. which one are you thinking about?

the difference between an apexi exhaust and megan would probably be quality and maybe a little performance (and price).

Looking at the M-GT universal muffler. Don't really care too much about performance, just how it looks, sounds and functions. Cuz yanno, after a while, sometimes mufflers start sounding like "bee cans," which scares me the most. So, can anyone help me out here?

with the original company you are garunteed a certain level of quality but if you go buying the cheaper replica the quality is not always the same and maight not give the performance of th real deal

What's wrong? First it could be the welds. All the name brand mufflers are robotically TIG welded, with imitation mufflers, you never know. Internal TIG welds must be done perfectly for sound quality or else rattling occurs. Second, you dont know the quality of the baffle. Name brand muffler companies like A'pex-i use high quality baffles. Third, you don't know the quality of the fiberglass wool that is back inside. Again, name brands use the highest quality packing. Fourth, name brands use stainless steel or titanium for the structure and for weight. You never know what imitation mufflers are made out of.

Bomz Racing makes cheap mufflers but the are good quality and the sound is great. As long as you make your exhaust straight through you will have the same performance as any other brand.

Anything not close to top of the line usually SUCKS, especially from a company that you have never heard of...
I have never heard of "replica" mufflers, wtf?

i think its an up and coming company and someday it may do well.

for me, however, i shy away from companies w/out a reliable reputation whenever i have to spend a decent amount of $$.

Well I can't say much for Ractive's other products, but I've had a universal ractive muffler on my car for about 2 years and no problems. It's sounds good and has not rattled or anything. I did have it installed by a proffesional though.

BTW--If i could have done it again I would have bought a name brand exhaust system just b/c of the gains and the reputation. However when I got the muffler put on I didnt really know much about cars.

I've had my BOMZ Evolution-N1 spec muffler for almost two years now and it still sounds great. It's has nice deep tone. It's strange, because the muffler seems to get deeper and deeper the older it gets. I'm very please with this muffler. I'm sure you will make the right choice just do some research before you do thumbsup
