I read in a magazine (Sport Compact Car I think)that on the 03 celicas you couldn't rev past 5000 rpms with the clutch in. They were doing a burnout test or comparison. Is this tru. Is there any way to change this so you can rev higher?

the rev limiter is for the top end revs in the 02 models
you might not be able to rev passed 5K in the 03, it has computer controlled throttle, they might moderate that

No, on the 02 GTS's you can't rev up past like 7 at a dead stop.

I don't think just because the 03s have the DBW (Drive By Wire). I've personally launched at 4400 RPMs before and had no problems. It bogged a little but that's because I don't make it a habbit to launch my car, and I don't drag much so yeah. There should be no problem revvin it to 5K w/ the clutch partially in... Don't ask me to try it cause I don't much like abusin my tranny

Yes I read the same article and was wondering as well. Supposedly the RSX Type S was one of the top dogs in burnout comparisons. Who the heck cars about burnouts anyway???

Yeah, I read that article while I was on the john. A Mini took the lead, or at least the top 3. I nearly shit my pants. Luckily, they were down. J/K!!!

In the OO-O2 GTS you could rev the motor to about 7100 RPMs at a stand still but for safety reasons for the motor they put a limiter on the 03 at 5000.
