im guessing it has something to do with shifting but anyway here is a stupid question why do some cars make an air sound when they shift from the outside?

I believe your talking about a blow off valve...when you have a turbo...it creates boost...when you let your foot off the gas (to shift), the blow off valve releases built up air.

or you are talking about a downpipe, it makes that sound as well
