I have a 00 GTS and it came with remote keyless entry. Everytime I press it it honks very loudly. Does anyone know if the honk can be disabled and just have it silent? Thanks.

You can disable the confirming honk that your horn makes when you arm your alarm. some will then flash the lights to confirm arming. It's different for most manufacturers but if you try opening the driver side door, hold the arm button for a few seconds then hit the disarm and then hit the arm button again, this may disable the honk.

You can always enable the honk again. I disable mine but sometimes if I accidentally hit my alarm control a certain way it enables it again.

check it out.

My car came stock with the Securikey system, yours may be different but this is what my book says to do:

1) Start with the LED valet switch in the off position, then turn the vehicles ignition key off then on.

2) Within 10 seconcs, cycle the LED valet switch to the on then off three time (press and release 6 times).

3) If the chirps were off before you started, then you will hear 1 chirp indication that they have been turned on.

4)If the chirps were on before you started, then you hear 2 chirps indicating that they have been turned off.

Like I said this might not be the sysytem you have but FYI for those who have Securikey... Hope it helps

i have keyless entry, the one that you could get with the car, but its never honked, the lights have only flashed. confused

its not an alarm system or anything, just the keyless entry.

You know what...there are so many different manufactures out there that I don't know which system you have. Just go to a Toyota dealership and ask them to disable it for you...they'll which manufacturers they use for your region.

good luck
