plus.. this 2.4 engine could actually prove worthy with vvt-i. think of the nissan 240sx, only with valve timing! let's hope this one actually gets aftermarket forced induction support to finally drive a nail through that srt-4
They took the Celica from the North American Market and replaced it with this Thats it, I'm moving to Japan, at least there I will still be able to drive around in something thats functional.
If you ask me... the tC was intended to take place of the COROLLA, not the CELICA
There is nothing similar about the tC and the celica... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
i like it...but not as a celica replacement. in a way it looks like a skyline cousin to me..hmmm...it's 2.4L with 150hp and 160 lbs. of tq. not bad but as a celi replacement i duno bout' that.
its cute...i guess. to me it just looks like another blase' car, like a typical corolla or accord, you see em everyday but you dont pay any attention to em.

Isaac, I couldnt agree with you more. Especially with the comparison to the corolla, not the celica. IMO, The Xc doesnt look that bad...but to replace the celica with it? That's just a bad idea. I just hope that toyota/scions high expectations of teens buying the scions, blow up in their face as they realise that a lot of teens will not go for it. I still do not get why toyota's getting rid of their 'sports cars' in america...Oh well, I just hope that toyota reaslises their mistake.

I noticed that in the front end when I first saw it.
And i'm also wondering why 'Deaths sig image look EXACTLY like me!.
i duno why some of you dont like it, but i find it really nice. of course it aint no celica replacement, but this sets scion to a higher level class car. the car looks pretty good. the headlights kinda remind me of a bmw 5series headlights, lookin the car from the side makes the tail lights look like maxima, and front the front door all the way to the start of the trunk reminds me of a g35. i really like it, finally scion came up with something nice. too bad the interior looks a little weird. but remember its a car under 20,000
Not sure if it's just me, but it looks like a Skyline front with BMW 5 series front headlights or Altezza fronts and Tiburon tails. The body is aye, and 17" wheels as standard? It's ok. If THAT'S going to replace the Celica, then
160+lbs. of tq 2900+lbs weight bmw/skyline-esque front/tibby rear scion label instead of toyo or lexus great foreseeable trd support in the future will never corner like it's on rails like a celi 2.4L engine only produces 150+hp
maybe they'll make an "S" edition or xrs edition until then a replacement for the celi it is not
i have to admit, the looks are decent, but it looks just a little too much like a soapbar, 2900 lbs and only 160hp, i can already see it in my rearview mirror. I think they came out with the tC because the xA did horrible, if they're trying to mimmick a celica they did a horrible job, i think the specs of that car is just disgusting. I really think it would be a great car for my mom, im gonna go tell her about it. Good thing shes replacing that caravan soon

it weights 2900??
that thing is going to be slow
ya i agree, well i guess they dont think a five hundred pound difference will be very big btw the celica and tC
I can't believe how many "this is nothing like a Celica" or "this thing weighs more than my Celi!" posts there are here.
Obviously this is not meant to replace the Celi, or attract the same audience as our cars. Think about the market segment that buys Sunfires or (non-evo) Lancers. Toyota has finally decided to offer a PRACTICAL sporty car. I'm actually glad they are, because it's going to open up a whole new market segment for the company.
That being said, I'm as PISSED as everyone else here that the Celi's are going away in the US. With the release of the tC it's obvious to me that the Scion project isn't a poor attempt to create sports cars- it's Toyota deciding to exit the sports car market at this time.
On the BRIGHT side for those of us who like import sports cars- Mazda seems to be starting to come back as an actual contender. The RX-8 is (in my view) a good equal to our cars. The 3 blows away our Corolla's. The Miata is supposedly being worked on by Mazdaspeed for release of a model this year . Still nothing like the Supra out there for us right now, but nobody can predict the future.

I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you
it doesnt look too bad...but too much "economy" written all over it. This will sell but not to the younger generation as toyota is intending. definitely no celica replacement
