I just wanted to share my XM radio install with everybody in case somebody was thinking about it. It took me about 3 hours and was well worth the effort.
I couldn't find a decent way to mount the XM controller so I fab'd up a flexible mount out of a lamp from LOWE's and a project box from RS. The flexible mount is secured by the bolt on the passenger seat left front mounting bolt. Right now I am using FM modulation, but I may go RCA, anybody have thoughts on this? The antenna was a breeze, I ran the wire through the hatchback, down the moulding on the driver side into the receiver mounted in the dash.
i would recommend sedning isaac a pm and see if he might be interested in adding that to the installs section...we currently do not have an xm radio installation guide.
Should have Gone With SIRIUS. Enjoy paying for commericals. looks unique though.
the stations that i listen to on XM dont have any commercials. i think some stations do, but most of them dont.
It just seems stupid to me to pay 10$ a month for xm with 30 stations that have 9 minutes of commercials for every hour when you could get SIRIUS which is 13$ a month with absolutly no commericials on music stations. If thier gonna make money off advertising, why should you pay so much?
