I was driving earlier tonight on the interstate. Had the cruise control set about 65.. I look up in the rear view mirror and see this car change lanes, cutting off another driver to get in behind me. He is RIGHT on my ass, and right away I noticed the light bar across the top: COP!
I think oh shit, I'm getting pulled over for sure.. I stepped on my brake (probably the wrong thing to do ).. then he followed me for about a mile or two, staying close behind me. Then he backed off and changed into the lane to my left. Pulled up next to me, then slowed back down and got behind me. This whole time I had been going 56-58 (below the speed limit). Other cars were passing us in the other lanes but he kept following me. I kept thinking when is this guy gonna get it over with and pull me over?
Well after about 5 miles or so he changed lanes into the left lane, passed me, changed back right in front of me. Then, about a minute later he took the next exit.
Ya i hate cops, but i got lucky on a drive down to california from texas i was inside california limits on the 10 and i was doing about 90 95 on the left left passing ppl and messing around with the 1.8t jetta. This cop get behind me and then i see the lights and im like shit so i pull over and he says he pulled me over for speeding, than he sees my military uniform and says slow down thank you for serving have a nice day. from the rest of the way back home i did like 65 70 lol.
yeah a cop sorta did that to me too the other day, it was freaking retarded. i was at a stop light with a cop in front of me with my right turn blinker on. he was gonna go straight but then halfway through the red light decides to go right, probably because he saw me trying to go right. so i turn right after him and he starts going like 15 miles an hour in the right hand lane. so i turn my left blinker on and pass him at the speed limit. i think its ok then im at a left hand turn lane like 5 minutes later and the stupid cop is behind me again, so i take my left all perfectly and he follows me for about 2 minutes and im going like 25 in a 30, then he just gets mad and blows by me up to like 60 or something. i was not happy about that.
Imagine if you had a yellow Celica, you would have had half the force plus the helichopter following you.
"thanx for watching channel 2 news, interstate has gone wild where a yellow mini lamborghini is being pursued for driving on cruise control on 65mph. currently police cant identify what car it is, but they assume it to be an illegal street car. the driver is unidentified so far, but the local police think the driver is insane for driving recklessly. stay tuned for more about this report..."
u shouldnt slow down at all, you should have just kept the cruise control on and see wut was gonna happen. i would have stayed on cruise to see wut the pig will do. if he pulls you over and then tell him you were on cruise 65. but you definetely got away from a long drama.
i don't know if this is true or not, but i live in florida and heard from a friend that it is illegal for a cop to follow for a certain amount of miles without pulling you over. i forgot the specific amount of miles but i heard that can't follow you over a certain milleage. also, i heard, again i don't know if it is true or not, but i heard that it is illegal here for cops to chase a person if they are going for then 100 miles. like, the cops can follow by air but not by car because it is an indangerment (spelling??) for the driver and the people on the road if cops start chasing perps at more than 100mph.

I've been told that it's 4 miles (just been told, haven't confirmed this for myself).
But no, the cops will chase you if you go over 100 mph. They won't be right on your ass, but they'll hang back a ways. In those situations, they wait until you slow down and deploy spike strips or a roadblock.
