It was pretty cool. What do they do with all the parts they rip out? just throw them out (ebay them to the kids!) the strech was kinda gay, id have liked if they kept it shorty, (they could have used that smaller engine from that atv thing, the helicopter engine) Too bad they didnt have a longer track to run it on, and with the possiblity of going 200+ they should have hit the salt flats instead, that would have been Sweet!! I thought the announcer kinda got lame after awhile, is that how i sound when i say "celica" i hope not, cause he sounded like a FOB
Good seeing a celica on tv, but i hope everyone doesnt go out and buy one now, that it has been on tv (thank god i got mine back in 2000, im not a poser)
Anyone want to make a bet that motor cycles will be huge next summer with the comming out of Torque in the comming weeks,?

Hell Yeah! Sweet car...I might just buy the dvd from discovery to get the extras not shown. And to end the debate, I am 99% sure it was a GT...due to the back breaks and the vvt-i

I've had my STOCK GTS at 140, just 40 mph less than a JET ENGINE powered one.
If you ask me, the design stunk, and they should have taken it to the salt flats and really opened it up.

At least nobody said any negative comments towards the celica like some cars that have been on there. Even in the beginning jessie said its a fun car.

If it is against your religion to watch Tv, so a dvd player for your car is out of the question?

Just saw the rerun... That was weak compared to what I expected. They needed WAY more room to run it and get it to top speed... maybe it would have went 300MPH, who knows? They only had the runway from some little POS airport for prop planes to use. The paint job was sick at least.

If it is against your religion to watch Tv, so a dvd player for your car is out of the question? no. movies are acceptable. tv's are considerred "too easy access" for raunchy viewing...but go figure, because we're allowed to have computers. haha obviously my religion must not know about the ecelica porn but in any case...i have one tv in my house...but it has no antenna and all thats hooked up to it is a vcr and a playstation 2.

Legos are cool, though. nah, i love star wars! (and legos). we're allowed to watch movies as long as the ratings are allright (r-rated movies are generally looked down upon)...but imo...i like most movies period. like i said above..the reason we don't have tv's is because it's considered too easy to view things that are not appropriate. which is understandable, because temptation is there ( ...can you tell this has been repeated to me over and over again growing up? good.), but to me its more about responsibility. (we can have computers--go figure...thats easier access than ANY tv) that said, i'll have several widescreens in my own house

my dad was like "Shit, I should have driven out to long beach and offered to take that stuff to the dump for them. Seats, carpet, engine, exhaust, hatch, etc."
I would have liked those TRD brakes

I was like "freebie?! Try $2700 " Those brakes held back 6,000HP, so I imagine they stop very nice. Must be nice to work for TRD and get free stuff

it was cool to see them take it apart but i was very upset w/ the result.. the total cost was like 30k 40k if you include the value of the freebees... and they only got up to like 185? i did like the paint job though.

who knows where the best place to get those TRD calipers? it's a trd big brake kit. You need 17" rims or bigger to support it. wctoyota has them, I believe.

jeebus.
TRD needs to get their act together.
If that was $1K, or $1200, they would sell them.
For $2,000, you can just upgrade the stock ones, and get lots of other mods.

I thought is was a good episode, cool idea, and I love the fact that our car was on Monster Garage. The paint job was sweet as a mofo, and I about lost it when I saw those big ass TRD brakes.
But did anyone notice they keep calling it a 03 Celica, more like a 00-02, had the wrong nose and rear to be a 03.

One thing I didnt understand was, when they were taking out the engine, it said "VVT-I"...and also, from what I saw, the rear breaks were not discs. Therefore making it seem it was a GT, but all celebrity celicas are GTS'.

gee, a lot of negative but unwarranted responses. people have to remember they did all the dismantling, fabrication and rebuild in just 5 days (how many of us take a day just to do the brakes?). the whole point of the show is to take some crazy ideas and complete them in a real short amount of time. even the rocket engine specialist stated he never completed a rocket car in less than a month's time. they basically took a handful of different individuals with separate backgrounds/work ethics and got them to work together as a team in a real short amount of time. i'm sure if they had a much longer build time with additional times for tuning they could have gone a lot faster.
as for the look of the car, come on. it's a jet car and physics wouldn't allow a celica's short frame to safely go in a straight line or even support a jet engine that size (if anyone caught the beginning of the show he DID mention if the car had to be stretched or left alone). and the paint job with the flames was (excuse the pun) hot. much better than most of the paint schemes on import cars today. besides, jesse is a custom car and bike builder. he's not a true import enthusiast but it's nice to see he acknowledges the genre. heck, his favorite import is the skyline and rx-7. great, coming from a hardcore gearhead with a hot rod and bike background. i'm sure none of the haters would voice their opinions to his face. the guy is huge and has a history of knocking heads (played college football and was a bouncer and body guard in the past). the guy is cool (even gave a way one of his project cars to a disabled guy; much against the producers of his show) and doesn't take shiznet from anybody. how many of you can fabricate vehicles like him? can you tell i'm a fan?
