Time to get some news tires, and I am trying to decide between getting a new set of Supra 712 or the azenis sports.

Only problem, is that the Falkens aren't listed as the same size as the stock tires, they are 205/50-16 and the Azenis are 205/55ZR16

Will those tires work on my 16" stock rims or not? Well, I know they will work, but what are the problems that will come up?

I might just have to get a new pair of Kumhos, but I really want a different style tire.

jameson..you shouldnt have any problem with the azenis...the difference is so small that your stock wheel will handle it just fine thumbsup

what problems could it cause?

the 55 is the tires ratio, correct? what does the extra 5 (MM ?) do?

I'm a n00b about tires, one of my shortcomings

That will work fine Jameson. Some stock GTS have 205-50-16 and others have 205-55-16, why i don't know. All the 55 is or would do is giv you alittle thicker sidewall!!!! Nothing major at all!!!!

ohboy

205/50R16 = 205 mm * .5 (aspect ratio) = X mm (sidewall height)

X / 25.4 = Y in (sidewall height)

same thing with all tires

so your too tires will be different by 112.75 - 102.5 = 10.25 mm or 0.4 inches, of sidewall height.

oh yeah, of coarse this is only one one side so you will have a total difference in 0.8 inches of overall tire diameter. grin

but he'll be fine if he changes all 4, right? i mean the only problem would be that when you put a spare on you might have a tiny tiny steering lean

you won't have any problems...it's just a larger sidewall...
I would stick with 50 for sidewall with your 16's...it's gonna look a tad different if you have 55's.

how about Toyo? The FZ-4's are really nice.

Diablo - I have Falken Azenis Sports on GT 15" alloys that I use for autox. They're great tires that have a very stiff sidewall. I have 205/50R15's. You WILL NOT have any problems with a 205/55R16, as a matter of fact, you'll praise the tire if anything. It's a great piece of rubber!

Don't get the Ecta 712's, that's what I have right now.

They suck. My first two sets of tires were both yokohamas.

I can't wait to for the 3rd set to wear out so I can get something better.

I have those right now and I love them. The reason I want to change is that I don't like to get "stuck" on a brand, I like to change things up so I have a broader knowledge base when people as me questions.

Billy- Why is it going to look weird? Won't it fill the wheel gap more, making it actually look better?

Thanks for the input! I'm a tire n00b spineyes
