My 19" rims/twin 4.5" exhaust/veilside or kaminari body kit plan has come to a complete halt 'cause i've moved to a new appartment, and the drive way is VERY lowered-car-UNfriendly!!
Soooo... Air suspension - anyone know of anyone making a kit for the celica? I'm not too keen on hydraulics, as I've heard the ride is just too damn hard. And these "universal kits" doesn't seem like a good idea either.
are you talking about bags? as far as i know there are no celica-specific products like this...but that goes for almost every car. there are different sized bags available and what usually happens is they pick the bag size that best suits your model and work from there. the size also depends on how many bags you want (for adjustability reasons).
alright!alright!alright!checkn it out i have f,b,s,s on my celica.the do make a kit.but it can be a pain in the ass.first you need to check out a couple of co. one unfortunataly is aim industries.when you talk to then they have the air struts.wich are a bag on a strut tower.but i suggest you only buy the struts from them, noyhing else.i warn you nothing else.thenlok up fender bender industries.they will have the rest, better quality for a cheaper price.this is what you needif you want f,b,s,s it dpends on how much room you have in the trunk 4 your air tanks.if a lot you can get two 5 gal tanks.if not one 5 gal. then you need atleast 50 ft 1/2 air line if you want it to lift fast.if not 1/4 in.air line. for the f,b,s,s,you;ll need 8 1/2 inlet fast valve or 8 1/4 inlet valves.
then the compressor make sure it is a 100%duty witch means it can run all night long and not blow any fuses.if you get any differen't thenyou can only fill you tanks then you use up the air and want to fill it back up with out it coolin down first you blow the fuse.i've done that like 10 times befor i relized it wasn't the ground it was the cheap compressor i had.the you need all the fitings and a switch box.i think that basically covers it.beware if you decide to do this make sure it is installed by a professional from expierience .if you don't you will be hattin life.i wasn't able to drive my car for so long because i had to many people who really didn't know what they were doing.then i found some one .and they fixed my problem in 10 min.after all the bullshit.i am now a god damn expert on the air ride system
the total amount with out install around $1500.00 mabee more probable less, but not much.the valve, struts or cylinders, and the compressor are the most expensive

yeah..for the celica cost should run between 1500 and 2000.
it's really not a whole lot considerring if you want to drop your car correctly with springs, shocks, etc..it'll be around 1500 as well. of course...springs, shocks, etc also have less problems but personally, nothing beats almost instant adjustability
yess--granted you drive responsibly and stay don't have a lot of bad luck.
you can puncture the bags (pop them) which will probably cause some front end damage (for front backs) or rip off your back bumper (for rear bags). this can happen for an array of reasons...most of which arise from your tires flinging debri onto the bags (nails, sticks, glass, etc.).
obviously avoiding visible objects in the road will decrease the chances of having a blown bag...but sometimes its just not avoidable (next time you can actually see a nail in the middle of the road--let me know). but of course, common sense rules..stay off the shoulders of roads, drive slow when your not on pavement or when a storm/wind has just blown debris onto the road.
most people don't experience popped bags (but one of my friends front bags got blown on his truck..which caused a bit of exterior damage to his front end because of the speed he was traveling)...the biggest complaint is either the compressors are too loud and/or they don't fill up fast enough.
Would this be a bad suspension mod. I really wanna get a nice suspension would bags be good. Or should i go with traditional springs and struts.
it really depends upon what you want to do with it. if all you want is an an average drop, then struts & springs will be FAR more dependable.
however, if you ant a really low car, i would recommend airbags because they are almost instantly adjustable. for example..with a very low car its very difficult to get into even moderately inclined driveways, parking bumpers are a hazard, and you might as well forget about going even speed limit on bad roads. but with airbags, this problem is solved..bad roads? raise it up. driveway problems? raise it up. anytime you want to have the stock heigh of the car...its the click of switch or the press of a button. when your smooth sailing on a good road or highway driving...drop it down low. lower cars look far better, imo..and this way you have the best of both worlds and you can adjust to what conditions call for

oka let me clarify some stuff.the bags on the celica r very diff from his friends truck. 1.the bags on the celica r monted to a strut so the don't flex left or right. 2.if you blow a bag (very on likely)the car will not hit the ground as you can see from my sig. 3.the only worries you'll probably ever have will be with air leaks around fittings. 4.the only reason mine is so low in the rear is that when i got my kit they didn't make the rear for the celica.so we improvized w/ the rear set for the matrix.and i needed to do some cuttin and weldin. 5.i don't have two differen't set of rims on my car.look a little closer and you'll see.

yes and no..it depends on the bags depending on your setupd, some bags can drop you car TOTALLY onto the ground and let your celica rest on its frame. obviously with this setup..if a bag is popped you can indeed wreck your front end or tear off your back bumper. personally..i like this look better and its impossible to put a jack under so your wheels are also safe from being stolen--alarm or no alarm.
and as far as the wheel question he asked ('how come your wheels are different?'), he was referring to a picture i had posted above of another celica with airbags--not your own
