How many people like the little slot on the 2004 models? I prefert the small grill.

actually the above is a 01-03 action package and beofre that it was the trd kit.

teh 03 and 04 front is the exact saem.

00 - 02 is the smaller grill.

i like the 00-02

sorry I was unsure bout the year, but i don't like that little slit thing it makes the car look so much uglier

i only like the new style front wiht a c one lip

werd, IMO toyota shoulda kept it the same

00-02 had the small grille
03-04 has the catfish looking grille

the first picture is the Action Package body kit which is the same for the 00-03 Celica..the 04 is supposedly different?

the second pic is the 03-04 stock body.

actually, didn't the 2000 model years have a smaller grille opening as well? they enlarged it (made it wider) on 2001-2002 models.

2003 and up has that little slit for a grille now.

Yes, with the action package, the 2003 looks like the 2001-2002, because it's the same kit.

I think I can guess why they now have a skinny opening up front... driving my celica this winter, I noticed that with all that open space in front of the radiator, it's hard to retain the heat when it's cold, takes way longer to warm up when cold, and sometimes, the needle on the temp will even drop a notch if you sit at a stoplight for a minute or two.

Awesome in the spring, summer and fall, but in places where winter is real cold, too much cooling can be a bad thing. Making the front grille a scrawny slit would probably prevent this, even on an action package, yet still retain awesome cooling in the warm months. Common sense, actually, but I still like the old look better. looks better than cardboard covering your grilles in winter, though

I think by "Catfish", he means the current design, the one with a little slit instead of a normal grille opening. I've also heard it described as looking like an ardvark on crack.

the old version is often said to resemble a mouse or similar rodent. with the action package, a mouse on steroids is a good description. My black '02 GTS w/action package tends to bring to mind the offspring that Pikachu and Darth Vader might have in a bizzare what-if scenario.

Either way you look at it, it's an interesting design for a car, that goes for all model years.

I believe the 2000-2002 fronts were all the same.

I could've sworn the 2000 model year had a top grille opening that was about the same as the one on your kit dude... I remember when the 2001 came out, I saw the grille was wider and I thought to myself "That looks a lot cooler". Come to think of it, that's when I first really started to like the new Celica.

Maybe the action package had the smaller grille, or maybe it was the stock bumper only, that is the part I am a bit hazy on. I think I'll do some digging and find out the definite truth for sure.

lol...I think they were the same..the design was not changed at all...and the grill piece fits 00-02

no... you are correct, I am wrong... what threw me was the simple fact that the action package has a wider grille up top than the stock bumper from the 2000-2002 model years... My bad. I could've sworn the action package on the 2000 model year had the same size top grille as the stock bumper, but I may be wrong about that as well.

lol, the action package was the same from 2000-2003, the only difference was when Toyota bought the design from TRD to produce it, they changed the grill a bit.

Im liken the new one better every time I see it in person, plus after seeing my nicked up one, they all look so clean

This year it won't even have an opening at all on the new action package.

the 03 front totally ruins the front imo...yuck

lol, because you have the "Action Package" which is a different body kit from Toyota.

I have the 2004 model with the cat fishy looking grill. I like the grill but not the bottom part of the front bumper (where fog lights are) since I think it's too "edgy" or "sharp" (don't know if that makes sense). I just think it does not flow with the rest of the car. Plus, the lines on each side of the scoop does not flow into the front grill like the old models do. Oh well...
