Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, so sorry if this is a stupid question/repost.. but i was just curious.. because i plan to buy a celica gts in the near future.. what are some of the top complaints you guys have about ur car? it can be anythin.. interior/exterior.. wahtever you feel is bothering u.. because i heard a lot of good things about a celica but i want to know the cons as well as the pros.. THANKS ALOT!
One thing that really bothers me is that I have a girlfriend and my damn car attracts too many girls,(gets me in trouble when i look at them) Other than that no complaints
slow over-priced cant do anything with the ECU (like performance upgrades)
but yea its true the celicas a chick mag, i cant imagine drivin 4 miles in it without havin at least 1 group of girls in a car go like "heyy hun nice ride" or somethin like that ...*starts dreaming*
- GTS auto is about 1-1.5 seconds slower in the 1/4 than the stick at the very least. That is a BIG difference. If you seriously plan to race, get the 6-speed. Celica is probably the biggest speed difference between auto/stick of any car on the market.
- JBL stereo is a bitch to upgrade. It sounds far better than most stock radios, but they make it tough to replace the headunit (because of the factory amp), and speakers aren't easily replaced either.
- Nobody over 5'8 should EVER be forced into the backseat. You won't be able to see jack out the back window, and they'll be seeing a chiropractor the next day.
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you
blind spots are outrageous, and the gt comes with drums brakes in the rear

Haha... you guys aren't used to it yet? It took me about two months.
I let my friend drive my Celi about a month ago on the way home from San Diego. We get on the freeway and he's swinging his head all the way around so he is almost looking out the back window before every lane change. I asked him what he was doing, and he said "just wanna make sure I'm not going to merge into a mobile home that's hiding in my blind spot".

You will get complaints with EVERY vehicle available on the consumer market
But you must also understand that unlike many other manufactures today... **Toyota has produced Motor Trends car of the year for 2004 **Toyota ranks #2 in United States car sales for 2003 (Domestic Ford ranks #3) **Toyota vehicles retain a higher resale value than most other manufacturer's consumer vehicles **Toyota's Celica has 30+ year history (longer than some entire auto manufactures have even existed)
power disadvantages: 180hp(more is always acceptable) low torque the advantage though is the lightweight body. dont get it wrong though, celica could keep up with the 200hp rsx. advantage also is approx 161whp (rsx-s approx 165whp). weight covers up the remaining whp.
mechanical disadvantages: bad belt tensioner, consider it changing it about every two years (warranty covers this up). a job like this costs anything 200-500 IMO lift bolts: specially on 00-02 models, they have lift bolts problem which break from excessive wear
body disadvantage: too many blindspots too low so ull feel everything on ground few ppl complain theyre having problem at the sunroof area. four seater, but basically a two and a half seater i would call. ^^yet again, all this stuff apply for all sports car
another thing take to consideration is that celica doesnt have too big of an aftermarket support like hondas. parts give less gains than hondas aftermarket parts.
advantage of celica is its outstanding handling and weight with dope looks. a little overpriced but cant do nothing about that. definetly a fun car.
not every car can be perfect..my top 5 complaints with the celica though are (and it's worth mentioning that some cannot be avoided..so it's almost an oxymoron to list it as a complaint. for instance..blind spots. i love the styling but i hate trying to see behind you. but you can't change it or else you'd have to change the styling.)
