Some carbon fiber hoods have weak latch. The hood pins hold the hood down so it doesn't fly up and hit your windsheild at high speed.

But, I have seen Rice boyz put hoodpins on stock hoods. For those guys, it is just for looks. thumbsdown

Yeah, along the same lines kinda, I heard Carbon Fiber hoods aren't legal to be driven on highways. I might be totally wrong but does anyone know? Some of you people from Cali should move up here, the cops don't give a rats ass what you do to your car. grin

i've never heard of the carbon fiber hood being illegal to drive on the highway. that's absurd, but they ARE coming out w/ a bunch of BS tickets, i wouldn't be surprised if chp does fine someone for that...in fact, safety-wise, the carbon fiber hood is actually pretty dangerous becuase it lacks the folding character that is used in the stock hood so that in front end collisions, the hood will bend upwards and not slide straight into you.

yo just so you guys know, my friend's carbon fiber hood on his thunderbird really did fly up and hit his windshield on the freeway because he had a latch and no hoodpins.

Don't take any chances... add hoodpins.
