Thanks a lot mate. Where can i find soem good info on the injen(TRD badged) cold air intake please. I cannot find some graphs of the average boost.
And is it true that the celica engine prefer lots of back pressure at the exhaust side. My friend told me to remove the catalyiser for a good cheap boost and some one else told me that if i remove it(even if i keep the lamba connected properly) i could loose power because the engine needs back pressure.

back preasure robs horsepower.its when you remove or add stuff to the exhaust that prevents flow (rapid exhaust gas movement)thats when you lose hp and torque.
about the catalyst,if you remove it you will pick up a few hp providind you:
1: weld in the proper size pipe
2: make sure the pipe is opened at the top(down pipe goes into it)
3: the pipe being put in goes into the mid pipe.
4:weld it properly (smooth welds, with little or no restrictions on the inside of the pipe.
5:you get a device that can duplicate the signal of a perfect working catalyst (or your o2 sensor would trigger a cel with the ecu)
some of the commom mistakes people make with removing the cat is,to replace it with a cat they think is a higher flowing one than stock(the stock cat is extremely good)
and they chisel out the material and leave the empty hollow pan.looks like its in but its actually out.not good in the case of the celica,as a matter of fact no celica gt or gts from 1990 to present.(the cat is so fat that when its chisseled out and left empty the massive preasure drop across the length of the cat cause the gases to slow drastically which cause loss in performance and increase backfiring.
so,you want cheap hp.cut the cat out,but do it right. and get the aem intake to me they work better if you are going to go extreme on the exhaust side.
