Do you guys think I should get a by-pass valve?
I mean people say you can only hydrolock if its completely submerged in water, and not if its raining hard.

I live in Los Angeles by the way.

Thanks smile

i believe you can still hydrolock if its a small trickle of water getting up there. i mean if enough gets up there. so yea if you're like driving in a heavy rainstorm for many hours you might run into some problems. if this is what your'e worried about, k&n sells a prefilter. its like a lil jacket for your filter. it will still let the air in but won't let the water.

but if your worried about dunking the filter then you might look into the bypass valve

another thing, i was reading on the injen website that if you do have a bypass valve, your intake won't meet CARB's restrictions. so if you have it on you might want to take it off for inspections

keep your filter OILED well and and always clean - then you shouldn't have a problem... the oil will prevent your filter from getting soaked and brining water up to your engine.

BTW - anyone ever hear the rumors dating back fromthe late 80s about ARCO and their watered'down gasoline spineyes

YES! I still hear that rumor from time to time.. someone recently told me that when it rains heavily (as it often does in my area), the runoff can seep into the underground tanks at gas stations.
