The other day I got some new lift bolts and I was going to change them out. Well the exhaust bolt was still in tact but the intake was broken. I tried to use a reverse drill bit to see if I could start drilling have the bit catch and unsrew the broken piece but to luck.
So the question is how much is the dealer going to charge to fix this? I called my local dealer and their TSB service was down.

funny, the exact same thing happened to me in November, and I did the same thing, tried to extract the bottom piece out with reverse drill thingy. So I took the car to toyota and I do not have the bumper to bumper warranty but have a 100 mile powertrain warr. which is not original, only from some toyota dealers on used cars. well, supposedly the bolt is not covered by power train because it is a fastener, but after several conversations on the phone with the rep from the warranty company, I got them to pay. Total was 550$ and I paid 50 deductable.

Also, when to bring it in, dont tell them you know its in fact broke if you have a warranty cause they might find a way to void it for the tampering, which isnt actually legal. BUT if you are planning on paying, tell them right off you know its broke cause they will charge you more to first determine if its broke before removing valve cover.

Also, you can make a complete print up of the TSB off of this website to bring with to show, because on that TSB it states that the bolt is covered under the 60K mile powertrain warranty. Be careful cause they tried to tell me that I needed a new head as a result of bolt split, and they also tried charging me for cost of plugging it into the computer first off to find problem, which I told them even I know does not recognize such a problem. Watch out cause their out to screw you left and right.

Also the TSB gives the amount of labor time it takes so they don't screw you on that either.

if you have the extended warranty, this is covered.

The powertrain plus "all internally lubricated parts" is covered.

These parts are lubricated rice

Time for the dumb question.

they say if you feel no lift engage at 6000 or 6200...the the lift bolt is more-than-likely broken

Yeah I still go into lift but it is weaker than normal. I am thinking of just doing the TSB procedure with another friend of mine. But I don't know if I feel up to it right now.

Would the extended warranty be the same as the Platinum warranty? I have that and it's in effect until 75k miles, and I have like 72k now and I'm still on the factory lift bolts and they havn't broken yet. Can I get them swapped out even though they are not broken or am I shit outta luck?

Also, I called the dealership a month ago to get my window motor replaced and I mentioned the lift bolts and they said that they didn't know what they were and that they weren't covered. Are all of the TSB's covered by my warranty then?

I believe your warranty is an extended bumper to bumper, which would definately cover the lift bolt, but only if it was broken. If it is not broken, you may be able to convince the service guys to do it under warranty by bringing in the TSB(print off this website) and show them. Shmooze them and tell them since the bolts are not broken its a real simple job(which it is). If you are mechanically inclined you could do thise by removing valve cover and exchanging the bolts for new types, but make sure to personally look at TSB before starting anything.

Well I also wanted to get some other things fixed that were noted in TSB's, but not covered in the warranty I have. Will the platinum cover that?

depends on what your specifically talking about, check the TSB's cause they should mention. If their a recall than it should definately cover, but for some of the TSB's like daytime running lights disable, may not be covered

Say for instance the TSB issued for the hatch rattling noise. Says it's covered under warranty but I have the platinum extended warranty so...?
