May 10, 2004 is my birthday and I want a car! Me and my dad have been talking about getting a car, but I can't decide what I want. I don't think I can afford a car over $30,000. I made a list of cars that I like and may purchase. Which one would you get? (don't suggest any other car other than listed below if I wanted a car thats not listed I would have put it on here) anyways my list is...
'03 Toyota Celica GTS '91 Nissan 240sx or JDM silvia (S13)

You can get an evo 8, for 30,000 out the door, if you look hard enough. You can also get a WRX for less than 30,000 easy. If you really have 30,000, you have a bunch of options!

Anyways, if you want looks and quality...i'd pick the Celica. For great performance and not as good looks id pick the 350z. For power i'd pick the evo or wrx sti. Still think that the Celica looks the best out of those.

depends. if you wanna keep the tire for 4 years or more, then get a celica. or else get nissan. i dont have much knowledge about the sx, but get a new celica. at least it wont break down as much as used, so yea. ur choice, whichever suits you best. i like the gts design more. r you gonna mod it? wut kinda mods you going for? auto or manual? answer these??? and you might get to the car you want to.

I know that recently a bunch of models from nissan/infiniti have been recalled, including the 350z due to faulty soldering in a circuit board, that can make your car just shut down. Also, I have heard many people on some 350z boards complain that any suspension (besides stock and nismo) will mess up your tires. under 30?? I would be all over a WRX I sorta agree. I dont really care for the looks of it though. But everyone has their opinions. It's good though that not EVERYONE on the celica board is biased towards celicas. I know that celicas arent the fastest car out there, but to me its one of the nicest looking.

As of yet I believe that the best turbo out there for the gts is the XS Engineering. Wont a custom turbonetics turbo cost hella lot? If you want a lot of boost...you will have to upgrade your internals and prolly lower your compression. And if you want to just get rid of the vvtl-i engine the gts has, a couple people have done a swap with a 3S-GTE engine and got great results! This one magazine I had has a celica with the swap...he has around 400-500 hp (or so i heard) and he is whoopin 350z's...mustang cobras...saleen mustangs...and a lot more! He might be selling a full kit for this, but im guessing it will cost around $10,000 - $15,000 total.

It's in the HCI magazine, I think it stands for Hot Compact and Imports...has a rx-7 on the cover and I think a 4 page spread on the celica.

My moms car was 10 years old before she got her new one...and that baby was still as shiny...and ran as good as when she first got it.

i'm personally looking for a 240 myself (since my celi's gone) i like the fastback models better than coupes..(89-93), those coupes are fugly imo.
but i'm looking for a 97-98 kouki so i can do a s14 sr20det swap. but if you have a budget of 30grand, then get the 240 and do a rb20det or rb25det swap (skyline power baby) and do all the mods you want and it'll smoke all the other cars. yes, even the celica. the celica has dissapointed me somewhat...

It just depends on how much you really wanna spend. You can get a 240 for like $2500 or $3000, and drop an sr20 for like another 2000 or so and have you one hella fast ride for lil over 5g's...and have extra $ to hook it up with rims...etc. or get a celica, which is newer, looks better, but will be over $15,000 (if its used) Plus all the extra $ you will spend on pimpin it out..call this place and they can give you quote for an engine swap...(they are good friends of mine who all have 240's and im the only one with the celi... http://www.srdff.com/engines.html
MY CELICA IS FOR SALE........... HURRY UP AND BUY...$$$$$$$$$$$$$

wow, my bday is May 9th! anyway, i'd either go with the celica, or even though you said not to list a car that ISNT on the list, i'd go with the mazda rx8 just because i think it looks badass.

u should get a used 2000 gts manual. as for the 240, my friend has the 90 240sx (the hatchback), and since its pretty old, its causing him some problems. of course, if you can find one in good condition, that would be awesome since the car is rwd. however, asking a question like "celica or 240" at a website called everythingcelica... is umm.. the answer is pretty obvious.

Essentially, you are looking at one of two choices. In their simplest form you could A: Purchase a relatively inexpensive car and use the remainder of the alloted cash amount to hook it up. Or B: You could pick up a 30G car and live it up stock. (Small mods like mufflers don't count. ) Do a lot of research. When you think you're done, research some more. I think a lot of people will admit that they buy stuff too soon without looking into it. Good luck

Man that fastback does look nice, looks like its setup for driving sideways, has a lot of camber in the rear. But man a RB26dett powered 240 would be freakin sweet, I've liked the Celica since 2001 then all of a sudden I started liking Nissan, I always wanted to learn how to drift also looks fun and I don't think my dad will let me try in his corvette. but then again a 400-500hp Celica would be tight too, plus it looks better But, this is a decision only I can make, and I appreciate everyone one for making suggestions, I new I could count on my eceli peeps Also I lovemyGT I will remember to tell you happy birthday since its right before mine.

Maybe I can get both, if I find a really cheap 240 thats in good condition. I will primarily use the 240 to drft (no I don't mean drift it sounds the same) and to be hella fast . The Celica would be fast too just not as fast as the 240sx. The 240 will probably be a sleeper too since I think it looks great stock. Also Its so hard too find 240sx's where I'm living.

Everyone, good news I found a 240SX coupe for $750 bucks, thats f@#!in cheap as hell it has a blown motor though which is perfect, Its fully loaded also has H.U.D. I don't know if its a manual or not I emailed a guy abou the car to get some more info and hopefully he will return it and he lives in Texas too
