just wondering if anyone knew the answer to this:

in the tsb for changing lift bolts, i noticed that it required removing the drive belt and to set NO. 1 cylinder to TDC/compression (steps 1G and 2AB).

If I just took the valve cover off and changed the bolts without taking the drive belt off and setting the cylinder to TDC/compression, would anything have happend? would there be a loss in power/compression?

As long as the bolts came out without unbroken, The removal of the CHAIN procedure and TDC is not called for unless retreiving a broken piece of the guide bolts. No harm done man!

ok, cool. thanx vvtl. and for mileage question, I check every 15000 and change if necessary. usually i go ahead and change bc it's worn a little and cost isn't much.

Also- what seals do you have to replace? I went to buy the lift bolts and after I showed the dealership what they were on a TSB rolleyes, they were telling me I'd probably have to replace about 4-5 seals that cost like $20...
