See i love my celica but omfg it sucks in the snow it does not go at all, and i mean in 2 inchs of snow =[ i am very disapointed in that and also my underglow wire was hanging and in ripped in half and it is to cold to fix it =[ and also it is really dirty i can't see my decals anymore =[, anyway i needed to get that off my chest peace. Other then that i love the celica soooo much =]

The thing is like 3 inches off the ground and not 4wd. Get a truck if you want to drive like a maniac in all weather and feel like it's okay.

bro i am not talking bout driving fast i am talkin bout not getting stuck and going slow it can't turn at all unlike other front wheal cars that i have been in where they can at least go

duh...it wont go in the snow that well you have to get better tires for the winter or not drive it!

That's all traction then. A big part is that the Celi is a light car, not as much weight on the wheels. This is a good thing in everything but bad weather. Also, invest in a good pair of winter tires wrapped around a pair of cheap 15" wheels, then just change them back in the spring.

I've taking all I can stand about the snow and the Celica. I've driven it in the snow stock and it wasn't as good as my earlier VW Golf, it sucked, but got me around I mean the Celica. I had my Celica lowered on coilovers, summer tires, and forget it. I was lucky I got stuck. Now I have the almost the same suspension settup and winter tires with the snow emblem on the side. I can cruise with the trucks in the snow. I never thought it was possible, but it is. I have and will never get stuck again with those snow tires. I have more confidence driving in snow, ice, and slush than ever before. I can't say enough that snow tires DO make a difference if you live in snow covered areas for a couple months out of the year. I would rather spend 300 - 400 on tires for several years of use, than risking totalling my over $20,000 car. Just think about my all-season tires. Would you drive in the snow with these?

right here in new york it snowed like 6 inches where i live and thanks to my celica i did not get stuck once i love the celica imo i think is better then a damn SUV i spin like 3 times on my jeep cherokee in 4wd but on my celica i never get stuck or loose control of the car

man get a beater for when the snow comes! dont bash on the celica, and plus its not meant for the fcuking snow! this should be closed

Same I live in new york as well and the only trouble i had was that i got stuck in a parking spot one night(i knew i shouldnt have parked there anyway) other than that i feel the celi handles pretty well in the snow. But you cant be sitting on expensive performance tires that werent made for anything but dry road conditions.

When I get my celica, ill prolly buy an older subaru for the winter. My neighbor has one and it gets around great aroung here. I dont want my baby to even know what snow is when i get it...it will just know what sun..and ohhhhhhhh and ahhhhhhs are

People that live in snow regions of this country need to get around. If I said it's snowing I'm not coming to work I would probably get fired. If I said it snowed a lot the day before I can't get there to work I probably would get fired. The Celica was sold across Northern America right. That means it's possible to drive it in bad weather conditions. Just be prepared.

str8 up i can go anywhere with my celica you just need to learn how to drive in the snow just playin... get some snow tires not all season but snow's there isn't anywhere i can't go and theres over like 4ft of snow up where i am...the celica is set up nicely for weight distrobution for winter driving just need good tires don't be cheap if you plan on drivin your celica in the snow no car is good with shitty tires even big 4x4's

One thing that blew my mind was when i moved from NC to ct to see people driving like normal when I could hardly get across the street without biting it. But between tires and a lot more skill than people farther south they seemed to have it down. Not to hate on the south but people who dont drive in snow arent going to be used to it. ALso, try learning a bit when you arent in a rush. I made it from Nc to MD last year in that blizzard in my 89 supra with Mich pilot sports. It just took a reallllllly light foot on the clutch and accelerator, a lot of rocking from 2nd to reverse, and the occasional push by my fiancee and we made it back through sometimes up to 5 in of fresh snow. Of course thats part of the reason I have a fwd now. ( Women hate pushing cars)

If you wanted an suv, you shouldn't have bought a celica.

If you live in a area where is snow, you just need a GOOD set of winter tires and a different driving style and thats all. Trust me, I know what is driving a celica in winter. I live in finland (it's in a northern part of Europe) and here is plenty of snow about 4 months a year.

Besides tires, your driving style must change at winter, you must be more predictive driver, go slower to the crossings, learn to use hand-brake if car understeers in a corner, ensure that cooling liquid freezing point is cold enough (mine is measured to -40 degrees celsius (-40 degrees fahrenheit)), make sure your lights are OK and so on.

Driving a celica in a winter is no problem if you are prepared.

Yep. That's why mine hasn't moved in 10 days, and it ain't going anywhere soon But I'd rather bum rides off people and scam my parents car then mess my baby up.

I do agree that 95% of driving in bad weather is the person behind the wheel. Nobody out here in Cali can handle any sort of weather out on the roads at all. I remember my NINE HOUR drive to Vegas over Christmas because of rain. Yes, just rain tripled my drive time. Everyone out there was thinking that it was impossible to drive in that stuff, but anyone from Minnesota would have been laughing at us all and going 85 probably.

Yea it sucks in snow, but I still manage to get around and we got more than 2 inches here! Suck it up or learn to drive or get winter tires...or just don't drive...you know what...just suck it up, haha!

What kind of tires do you have?

Because with winter tires, the celi handles quite well.

With Z rated summer tires, no handling in snow or cold weather.

you could just get a 3 foot lift and some big ass tires but that would be gay, get a truck instead.

dude wionter tires make a huge difence on a celica or any car for that matter if you have a lot of snow get snow tires. besides what gave you the idea that the celica would go good wiht performance tires on it in the winter teh tread depth on your tires is prolly about 1/8th inch deep.

Dude I had a little mishap in the snow but it tought me to be a safe driver especially in bad conditions. I roll in 18's with Nitto Extreme tires everyday in my snow ridden city! Just keep it cool. I didn't even put my stock wheels on yet!

ok i had an explorer before the celica and i feel safer it in the celicaa...i might be stupid for thinking tht but oh well the explorer i thought it wsa going to tip in the snow...just because its an suv doenst mean you can break in snow...anyway my celi drives fine in the snow we just got 4 or 5 inches week ago and i drove fine and even could pull right out right through the snow tht piled up next to me. oh yeh and by driving fine in the snow i mean i drove slow but fine...thats how you r suppose to drive in the snow not doing 55 aand blowing by people in ur suv nad thn relizing it cant break worth a damb and too late crash!

mine has been cooped but for well over a month now...maybe almost two or something...

Yea, no doubt... After I bounced my Celica off a brick mailbox about a month ago, I had some issues with how the celica handles in snow. But Since I just bought the car a while back, It's been taking some practice getting used to it.

In light snow, it's not too bad, lots of wheelspin, and the ABS seems to hinder winter driving more than help it. the fact that it exhibits major understeer and is nose heavy doesn't help either.

I decided to get more aquainted with the car to improve my winter driving performance about a week ago. It was a no brainer, my previous car, a 94 escort, seemed to handle better in the snow than my celica, but keep in mind, I owned that thing for five years, and in the beginning, I has some close calls in the escort as well, the fact that i had a shitload of performance and suspension mods on the car didn't help much either in winter (it was set up to autocross in nice weather!).

I took the time to go in an abandoned parking lot when there was about 4+ inches of fresh snow on the ground. Lots of open space with no obstacles to hit. I noticed how easily the car would do donuts when I gently pulled up on the hand brake (under 20 MPH) it was like I was a little kid again on my big wheel! I had a blast!

I also tried some cornering, noting the point when the ABS would kick in, when the car would begin to understeer, and then, after about 20 minutes, I was able to combine braking, accelerator, hand brake and steering to control the car no problem; Keep in mind, I'm still runing on the stock yokohamas. After about a half hour, I was drifting around the parking lot, doing donuts and getting it to corner almost as well as it does on a dry road. Like many have said, it just takes some practice.

Also, it may sound stupid, but what can help you out is a simple fix... throw a couple of bags of kitty litter in the rear cargo area. this serves a dual purpose: First, it puts more weight in back, which will help correct some of the understeer in the snow, and second, in the event you get stuck, you can just spread some of that kitty litter around your tires, and it'll give you the traction you need to get un-stuck when rocking back and forth just won't cut it.

I'm a lot more comfortable with winter driving in the GTS now, I don't even need the kitty litter at this point. it just takes a little practice, that's all.

I live in VA and it snows here too, last year I drove to work everyday in 7 to 8 inches of snow and never had a problem only spunout once. and i had stock rims and wheels. Its the driver not the vehicle

Maybe it was because I have all season Performance tires on my car but when it snowed last winter my car did just fine, I even had a little fun. I felt the car did good because I park on a slant and have to back out and I was really surprised at having no problems at all getting out of my driver way.

Or get some tire chains. I'm surprised nobody has made mention of this. Tire chains for snow and then you have your summer tires for the spring and summer.

Just in case you USA people didn't know - Finland consistently turns out more world class rally drivers than any other country.. these guys are MANIACS in the snow!

If your celica doesn't go at all in the snow, then either you got shit tyres, or your driving skills are shit.

I live on norway, and we've got snow up the whazoo - and I had to drive the celica last winter. No problems what so ever. Only thing negative I can say about the celica in snow'y / ice'y conditions is that the rear has a tendency to travel...And let go without much warning. But that's easily fixed with a 50kg sand bag in the boot. makes it a bit more stable atleast.

But if you can't get anywhere in the snow with your celica, you should get new tires, or turn inn your license 'cause you can't drive and have nothing to do behind the wheel of a car.

Hey I took my stock celi with the stock 16" rims wrapped in nitto's and drove it to Colorado Springs, and while going through Utah, I hit a snow storm, I had to go slow of course, like 30 mph, but I was plowing right through the snow just fine, my only problem was I couldn't see the lanes on the interstate anymore, so I pulled over for a sec, got lucky and a semi went by, I kicked it back on the road, and "used him as a full back, and went for the end zone" -P.S. what movie is that quote from?

i have to say the celica is pretty good in snow, drove in a lot deeper snow than 2" and i was fine.

not driving mine in the snow, all the salt loves to eat paint. I'll use my Toyota 4x4 SR5, now that goes well in the snow.

i've either gotta buy some snow tires or i was also thinking about finding a cheap beater truck for the winter

our machines are not made for snow, thats why you should just get a 4x4

this thread obviously must be a joke... buying a front wheel-drive sport-coupe and expecting it perform like a 4x4... in the snow
