Ok my car is sitting in my garage n jack stand right now. I am installing my new tein springs on the car. I have got both the fronts done and taken out the two rear shocks. I have compressed the springs. I stick an allan wrench in the top to prevent it from spinning and I am using my open end 17mm wrench to try and twist the top nut off. This bolt will not come off, I have spent the last hour trying as hard as I can and it won't come off. I am turning counter clockwise. Please help what do I do.
you are probably turning the whole shock, clam pthe bottom part of the strut, then your gonna have to hold the piston, shock, whatever, the cylinder that goes up and down with your hand, or something, then trunt the bolt, allen wrench helps.
Look at the top of your rear shock an you will see the hole right on the top center. Put the L stile wrench if you have it... It's looks like "L" . Hold it there and now try to turn the nut buy using the normal wrench... P.S.Sorry do not have any pictures...
well i take it you don't have access to an airgun. So this is how i did it one time when i did not have an air gun. I got a shirt and pliers locking. Next you take the shirt cover the teeth on the pliers locking, then you make sure they lock on the shock shaft real good, then set the shock on the floor so that the pliers hit the floor in the direction you will be moving the shaft when trying to work the nut loose. I hope you understand what i am trying to say. If all else fails you ca take them to a shop and have them loosen them for you, they shouldn't charge...
