After finding this sight i've fallin in love with the celica and want to get one. But the guy in me still wants to get a dogde ram. I have a connection with a guy who works for toyota so I can get the celica for much less. Given that this is a celica site this question is probably pointless but... Should I get a ram or a celica The ram would proably be 4-door hemi and the celica would prob be a 02 or 03 gts (not sure about 6-manual or the button shift) please help me out...

Do you need to ask between a dodge or celi?
Six speed manual, that'll make you dodge away from Chrysler.

You cant compare a Ram & a Celica, it's like apples & oranges. Do you need a big truck to haul stuff around or do some towing. If not, then get the celica. Gets better gas mileage, looks better, & is far better quality than any dodge vehicle out there.

obviously this isn't about speed it's about wheter I should get a truck or a compact car, i don't do anything where I need a truck (ie construction, etc...) but it has more room in the back seat and can carry lots of junk. the celica would be more fun though here's the celica I want, correct year and kit not sure about color, white's cool but i prefer black

You'll be surprised how much junk you can put in the back of the celi, especialy if you fold down the rear seats. You can actually fit all four wheels w/tires in the rear. And yes, the celica looks the best in black

my mom thinks that all asian imports are crapily and cheaply built with crappy material. This guy I know is some sort of regional guy for toyota and he tried to convice her that toyota has some of the best products out there but she doesn't like to listen to other people. My dad would maybe let me get one, it will be my first car though and i can get it for pretty cheap so that's probably going to make her let me get one.

I dunno what rock your mom has been living underneath but domestics blow (no offence) You just have to take your mom to the dealer & have her take a look at the celica. My dad is the same way, he's always telling me to stop wasting my money on a "small car," & get myself a "real car" like a 'vette But once in a while he'll ask me if he can take it out & I just tell him yeah. Deep down inside they wish they could be young again & be driving a nice car, like the celica.

Celica. Dodge vehicles are notoriously crappy, don't invest money into something made by someone who doesn't give two shits about the quality of the vehicle they make.

well we have a 1993 dodge caravan ya it sucks and my bro drives it, it runs great still ...being 11 yrs old. I'm pretty sure though that when he leaves for college in the fall i'll get a new car, i really don't want to be a minivanracer . that convinces thm that dodge makes good products, i don't think they are as crappy as you guys say but they are very good either. if i get a job and help pay for the celica i'm sure i'll be able to get one. also if i get a 02 or 01 that will lower the price quite a bit. The cheaper it is the more mods i can get Does anyone know the dealer price of a gts? my connection says he can get me one for just a few hundred over the dealer's price (how much the dealer buys it from toyota)

Since this is a Celica website, opinions may be a little biased. If want to have a little more fun, definatley get the celica. And if you're getting a GTS, get the six speed. If you were to get the auto in the GTS, you should just save your money and get a GT manual, because the auto GTS is slower than the GT manual, and manual is ALWAYS more fun than auto. Just my opinion though.

My dad's like that, I can't convince him that Mercedes has fallen from grace and builds poor quality cars and that Lexus now owns the industry when it comes to quality and luxury status. He still wants a C class and I try to push the GS on him. He drove the GS430 and was frickin impressed, but still has that previous generation stuborrness.

it just doesnt make sense why ur mom thinks dodge is the best car. well sure she doesnt understands about cars much, but that aint anything bad. a car lasts as long as you take care of it. some cars are made defective and give you headache nomather what, and probably thats wut you mom experienced with japanese. best and best selling car now is lexus/toyota. not even euro. if you dont need the extra space, then get a celica bro. whenever you need the space you use ur dads SUV. btw, you live in socal, celica is the perfect car for socal.

Just take her to sit in a Celica and I'm sure she'll see that it isn't cheap construction. Also try buying a Consumer Reports magazine or going to ConsumerReports.com and show her that the Celica has much better quality ratings than anything American. Truck for your first car is

That's funny. My Dad just got the exact same truck.
That thing gotta Hemi?
You're about to find out.
The Ram is fun and all, but unless you can afford 3 mpg, I would advise against it.
Oh and, I love my Celica more than anything.

i live in a dodge/chrysler family... so i was brought up to like them... and i've never had any problems with them (besides the daytona... they just have problems all together).. i own a chrysler sebring, dodge dakota, and a toyota celica.. so i'm not really too biased on this subject... cause i love both rams (which are just bigger dakotas.. haha) and celicas.. so in my opinion... if you're looking for something big and powerful... where you don't have to worry about hitting curbs and potholes... go for the ram... but then you have to sacrifice with the rising cost of gas... but if you want sporty fun and looks... go for the celica... VERY fun to drive (especially 6-speed) and has a surprising amount of room...
as for your mom not liking imported cars... tell her that dodge too, imports parts... they work with mitsubishi... look at the dodge stealth and the mitsubishi 3000GT... basically the same car... same parts... just MINOR differences in body style... (my mom has a stealth and i have a 3000GT so we've compared.. haha) so yes... even domestics are part imported... so imports can't be all that bad
