Okay, I'd like to buy an AEM CAI, but i'm really thinking I'm going to pick up the TRD Supercharger when it becomes availible. Should I bother yet or just wait to see what it requires?

wait for the TRD and see how it is. I'm sure it is going to be sweet.

well here's my 2 cents, the TRD supercharger is gonna be a heck of a lot more money than a CAI so I would buy the CAI and then when the supercharger does come out then just sell it to someone.

That's what I'm doing ...

My prediction is that TRD will not come out with a super charger any time soon or at all.

Yep I would be good if they came out with a sc, but I wouldn't hope too much for that.

They've been talking about it for the past 18 months - is there any new details about it since then? spineyes

Go with a CAI or add the TRD Drop-In to your stock air-box

What about Blitz's supercharger? When are they gonna remap the computer for it so that we can use it on our lower compression motors?

toyota better come out with some serious horsepower soon because all the other companies will have very fast cars this year and next. seems like toyota is focusing on fuel economy or family oriented cars or something. i'm really considering abandoning my favorite brand =(

I agree glitch. Toyota needs to get something on the market to compete with all the new cars.
Caerie, you got pics of your car? I'm interested in seeing what it looks like with those mods you have listed.

THe parts guy at my local dealership said the representative from TRD told him 6-12 months. It should be about $3000 +/- for the parts and install, and it should produce 50-55 horses,

TRD is not going to put out a supercharger for Celica, there simply is not enough room in the celica engine compartment.
They however is putting one out for the Matrix.
You can buy this kit and modify it to fit in the celica but you do have to cut celica hood where the Supercharger housing will be sticking out abit... And this custom work is gonna cost ya plus will not get it under warranty because no dealership will do custom work plus this was not made for the celica so it will not be warrantied.

Reaaly? I thought the S/C was pretty much finished but they couldn't get it tho work on the stock ECU !?! Maybe we'll all have to wait for the WCT turbo! (only for the GT)

there is an article somewhere on the tubromagazine website about the BLITZ S/C. they tested it out on a 7th Gen. GTS and it made 33.something HP to the wheels. i have seen it for sale on some jap website awhile back but now i cant find it. i think it was like 250,000+ YEN which is like $2100+ USD.

In the new Import Tuner mag they have the APR Celica and it has the Blitz SC in it. They don't say how much horsepower it makes though. So it should be available. The dealor where I got my car also said "Don't hold your breath for a TRD SC". I'd like to find someone with some experience with the Blitz set up before jumping in on it - with 11.5:1 CR how much boost can you safely run?

why would TRD not be able to fit the supercharger under the hood of the celica. But Blitz can?

Ok...
Blitz Supercharger= $5000+INSTALL= Mucho Dinero
Adds only about 35 hp.
Does fit under Celica Hood

XS Engineering Turbo=$4500+INSTAll= Mucho Dinero
Adds nearly 100hp with Exhaust, intake filter, and cams.
Does fit under celica hood.

50-100 Shot nos= $500 for kit+ INSTALL + any mods you want (like Forged pistons, etc.) to make your motor more durible= Mucho dinero
Does fit in Celica (Bottle in back)

TRD parts DO NOT void the warranty if installed by Toyota Dealership (Mucho Dinero, subject to thier prices). As for a Super Charger, though, I wouldn't be so sure that would be covered. If it is really coming out, though, I'll get the damn thing only if it's less than $3500 and adds more than 50hp.

Otherwise, just get NOS and beef up the hard stuff in your motor. More power for the money.

They've been talking about FI for our car since day 1... TRD or XS engineering or whatnot. Anyways, even though a kit might be coming out soon, if you're considering it, the $200 for the CAI shouldn't be a huge investment. It might be anywhere from a couple weeks to a year at this rate. Just get the CAI now, sell it if you get the turbo, you'll lose like $100, which isnt too much.
