I am not totally clear on this concept... I want to make mind red, so how can i do this?? th LED behind the needles are amber, aren't they? So, if I clear my needles, put red on the back of the needle, will it be red? or will it be goofy colors?? what is the best way to do this??

ok, i think my best bet to make sure they are bright is buy the needle LED kit from Dooly... correct and then have the needle painted red on the backside of it?

I still don't think that will make it red. You have to change the LED's and take the paint off of the needle. I recommend dabbing a q-tip with paint thinner.

Ok. Yah you could change the light that makes the needles glow BUT if you take your needles off and turn the ignition you will see that the natural color is not orange. It's kinda yellow...here's a pic. So my point is that we all know how colors mesh together to form new colors but seeing as it's a normal color if you just color the back of your needle the needle really should light up that color (mostly) Anyways, it'd be easier than changing the light.

I cleared my needles about a year ago and Im really satisfied with the way they look in the daytime and nighttime. In the daytime they are completely clear almost transparent and every time the needles passes through a number they kind of magnify it which looks really cool. At nighttime I have Blue LEDs which I purchased from Dooly to give it that BLUE look. The only thing I needed to complete my gauge conversion is the blue blinkers. However, Im already purchasing that from Dooly. Thanks Dooly From your post VSGTS14 I feel that youre trying to go with the Red look in the daytime and nighttime. If thats the case, then you first need to clear your needles to remove the Orange paint and then paint them Red to have the Red look in the daytime. And for the nighttime you need to solder Red LEDs to have that Red look that youre looking for because the Red paint will not be enough to make it visible at night. I hope this answers your question.

Anyways, it'd be easier than changing the light. Actually soldering is a piece of cake, trust me. With all the installation guides out there its really simple. Just follow the instructions that they provide you with and just be very patient because it takes time. Especially if its your first time soldering. Just bring some beers and a couple of friend to hang out and you should be fine.

Best way to see the needles red in the daytime is to paint them red as stated above. At night they will look red if you have the led conversion even if you don't paint the needles. I recommend doing the led thing.

Just make sure that when you remove the Orange paint from the needles you dont use something really strong because it would mess up the needles. You will notice that youre burning the needles when they start turning white. I would recommend you use rubbing alcohol, that should work fine but if you decide to use nail polish remover dont use too much, trust me.
