Where should I mount my Tachometer? I kinda wanted to have it somewhere cool, but it's 5" and there are only so many places it will go, especially considering the shape of our dashboards. Here's some pics of possible mounting positions...any suggestions, that'd be awesome. Any comments about tachometers=rice...keep 'em to yourself. Thanks!

if i were you i'd put it on the right (3rd pic) for two reasons
- it balances out the other gauges on the A pillar
- when/if you race your left hand will be on the wheel, ubstructing your view of the tach.

Yah, I think maybe it looks better in the first spot but you're right...I actually want to make use of this and be able to see it. And my left arm is always on the wheel. For those of you that remember I was trying to find an AC Autotechnic 3 3/4" Tach but they don't make any that size anymore. I really like this one too though, it's just, well, big.

I dont suggest mounting it on your dash because it would not be fun to replace or patch those holes when it comes time to sell your car.

I'm going to have this car until I'm too old to drive, and they'll have to pry the keys out of my hands I see your point though, if I had to sell the car it's obviously a modified vehicle and the tach would be left there anyways.

how about this,
position of of the tach in pic 1 on the right side. so basically not attached to your air vent. in between the vent and the dash. make sense?

You could do a little custom work and try it like this...
but if you dont like it or it is not convenient for you then i saw right side inbetween the vent and dash like he said...

You have a Tach right infront of you face.
Why do you need a bigger one?
It saves money to look down.
Just trying to save you some cash.

you could always remove a vent, and stick it in one of those holes. If it is too big it could just sit partially in a vent hole.

How bout mounting it on your center console? Like where the top edge it? This way, it won't be crooked and yea...otherwise, I don't know...

Mount it in the middle of the steering wheel! Ha ha, I'm kidding, I pick letter A.

*ndy People don't "trick" out their rides to save money. If I wanted to "save" money I would have just torn my muffler off instead of buying a TRD Exhaust. Check out my posts, I'm in this for show and go. That being said...yah, it's a 5" tach so it's not a little thing. I'll find a good place for it, I just think the left side by the gauge pillar is too cluttered.

That thing is gonna look super tight in the first spot. You said it can swivel? So if you put it there can you put it so that the tach is level, or does it only swivel at certain angles? Know what I mean?

from the camera angle it looks like you could still mount it on your A pillar (like some one said above) and just use the adjustable base to angle it toward you. All you really need from that thing is to see the shift light. As long as you can see it with your periferal vision you should be fine.

Are you nuts or what? What do you want all those stupid gauges for?? They serve no purpose. You've got a tachometer already on the dash, or did you not see it? The interior of the Celica is so nice and you want to ruin it with crappy looking toys. They're not going to make your car go any faster. Don't like that crappy red steering wheel either. The original black leather one looks a lot more classy. If you ask me Toyota have got the interior of the Celica spot on. Its even somewhat luxurious compared to other cars like the Type R and Golf GTis.
I hope to God you're not gonna fix that junk to the dashboard by drilling a hole. Damn you must be an idiot. Please don;t take offence by my opinions, but believe me everyone else will be thinking it, they just don;t want to tell you. So whats the best position for it? IN THE FCUKING BIN!

If you do insist on an oversized tachometer though, get one like SASPENSE22's. Looks far more classy. Still daft, but the black suits the interior better.
I can't help laughing at the third picture of it stuck in the middle of the dash. Ha ha ha. What are people gonna think?
I was gonna say at least you'll have a shift up light, but then I noticed the 140mph on the clock, which means its a GT. Doesn't really matter when you change up, you'll still loose to boy racer in his 150bhp hot hatch.

Show some fuckign respect!! Granted we all dont have "Rev limited Gts's" like yourself...lol. I assume thats what you have, obviously you wouldnt be talking shit on your own car..right? Or are you an IDIOT?? The celica's interior is "ok" there is nothing wrong with putting a tach in your car. Read his orig. post he said keep your negative comments to yourself. Being new here and all, I can almost you arent gonna have any freinds here. lol.

I got friends with Golf GTis, Peugeot 106s, Clio 172s, Saxo VTS's and I know for a fact they'd all eat the standard Celica. My cars a late 03. The limiter kicks in way after yours!!

Don't like that crappy red steering wheel either. The original black leather one looks a lot more classy. If you ask me Toyota have got the interior of the Celica spot on. Do you have any idea wtf you are talking about? The steering wheel is quite obvioulsy the TRD edition, and if paid any attention at all you'd know that is the type of car Stephen has. And sure the interior is nice, but isn't one of the points of making mods is so that you have a unique vehicle unlike anyone else's? If all cars came with even the nicest body kits, people would still change them because they want their ride to be different, the same goes for the interior. Stephen has one of the nicest interiors of just about any non-show car I have ever seen, and trust me when I say that adding a new tach is gonna make his ride even sweeter.

I guess this is the reply where I'm supposed to get all upset and talk shit about you but it's 4am and I just got off work. Honestly, everyone is entitled to their opinion and that's the exact reason why I made this post...to get feedback from the members on this site. By reading this thread you can see how helpful people actually are and that's why I post on this site. What isn't cool is the way you chose to word your remarks about my car. I don't even need to defend myself for two reasons...One, the people on this site know what I've done to my car and the results speak for themselves. Two, everything I do to my car I do with the consideration that I am the one sitting behind that steering wheel. Ultimately that's what it comes down to bro. If you're not happy with what someone has done to their car...do the opposite to yours and let your actions speak for how you feel...don't post hate about shit like this. Here's a list of the things that make my Celica different: TRD Kit and Spoiler Custom red matching interior Clarion 7" Screen with PS1 in the glovebox AC Autotechnic Indiglo Dash Fiberglass A-pillar w/Volt and Water Temp gauges TYC Tailights S2000 antenna Injen Intake TRD Exhaust APR Strut Bar VIS Carbon Fiber Hood TWM Shortshifter AC Autotechnic 5" Tach Street Glow Red L.E.D Underglow Kit Clear Corners Like 'em or hate 'em, that's what I bring to the table. And if someone on this site works 6 nights a week, goes to school and owns a stock GT but they saved up and bought some clear corners or a steering wheel cover, they've got my respect. We're on this site because we're all got something in common...not to disrespect each other. Keep the bullshit off the screen. Later
