When you down shift, do you push the clutch down all the way?

i bought a used 00 celica gts and i had the same problem, the clutch was not disengaging. this burnt out my clutch and ruined syncros on my transmission. try double clutching, shifting into neutral and releasing clutch then re-clutching and putting it back into your selected gear. this will let you know if the clutch is disengaging. yeah, the '00 gts manual you have does have problems for some reasons..it's most likely the synchros.

my tranny had the same problems (i also have an '00) but it went away for whatever reason. i also grinded a WHOLE lot when i put it in reverse (even when i double clutched).

i put a b&m shortshifter in my car recently though, and the grinding in reverse has also stopped now. not sure why, but maybe it's because the b&m rod isn't goosenecked like the stock shift rod?

it will most likely come back after a few months, same thing happened with my TRD.

I can't explain why it does it, but the updated selector and linkage fixes the problem.

how much that costs? is the shifter assembly/linkage the part where the shift knob is or is it part of the transmission? does this problem go away if you change the shifter to trd?

Better go to the dealer before it's too late. I had the exact same problem with 4th gear... eventually my whole transmission locked up on the highway. Couldn't shift at all. The whole transmission was trashed. Luckly they replaced it all under warrenty. My car is CURRENTLY in the shop, possibly having the transmission replaced AGAIN because the seals are busted.

Definitely go to the dealer... if your car has < 60k miles it should be under warrenty.
