I would always go synthetic and either castrol or mobile 1. However, I read recently in a book (training wrx) that synthetic on some cars can be bad before the car is fully broken in. Apparently this is only for "very hard bores." Not sure if this is the same for celis but you might want to take it into account.

I did an experiment with my 91 civic right before I got my celi. I had an oil temp. gauge and I used MOBIL full syntetic and I also tried CASTROL syntec. The temp. on the CASTROL SYNTEC was lower than MOBIL full syntetic. After that I use only CASTROL SYNTEC.

Did you test the two oils in the same conditions? What was the ambient temperature at both tests? What was the temperature of the two syn oils compared to a conventional oil? What driving did you do while testing? I did an experiment with my 91 civic right before I got my celi. I had an oil temp. gauge and I used MOBIL full syntetic and I also tried CASTROL syntec. The temp. on the CASTROL SYNTEC was lower than MOBIL full syntetic. After that I use only CASTROL SYNTEC.

Mobile1 is the best... I went to Toyota and bought a case of oil filters also. I change that shit every 3G's on the dot, I only have 11,200 miles on my celi though...
