So I was just browsing at Best Buy today and saw this head unit there for $270. This is the last day that they are offering free installation for all decks, and I have a gift card for $100 I've been meaning to use. What do you guys think about this? Need to know before they close

Just test it out. you can test everything there, they dont mind.

only 2.2 volt preamp - I say pass Yeah voltage is important. You can get a higher voltage for not too much more money. Pioneer is great don't get me wrong, if you want a full blown sound system, get a higher voltage.
Knowing the path and choosing the path are two different things.

You can get an Alpine head unit with 4 volt pre-outs for around $200.
