I'm thinking about getting rid of my 03 GTS for a RX-8 soon. I would like to find out if this is good trade in. What do you guys think?

I think that the RX-8 is an awesome car I'd think carefully about doing a "trade" though. You'll get about 3-4k less at a dealership for an 03 GTS than you could private-party. Also, make SURE you get a stick in the RX. The power output is something like 50 HP different between stick and auto. RX-8 auto makes the GTS auto seem fast.

I personally think mazda's suck, however the RX-7 was a real nice car. I think much nicer and even faster than the current RX-8.

I'd keep the Celica, considering it's a 2003, and the fact that you'd lose money by getting rid of it so early

The RX-7 and RX-8 both use twin-rotors, however the RX-8 and the some earlier generation RX-7s were N/A. The FD or third gen (93-01) had twin-turbos. The production car Mazda had 3 rotors in was the Cosmo, which was used as a common swap for RX-7s. Personally, I'd get a 6-speed 8. But if fuel-efficiency is something you're concerned about, I'd stick with the GTS. Wait until the hydrogen 8 comes out, muhaha.

haha, i'm surprised no one attempted a flame at my next gen mustang comment but on a serious note i am very much interested. the gt model will come with 300hp (current cobra model is at about 380rwhp, so that should go up with the next model also), ford claims that it will weigh less, handle better, and be based on a new platform (they've been using the same platform for a long time now). in addition, ford's trying to fix the quality control problem they've been having. if they do all that . . . they'll have a very nice car. did i mention i like the look of the new stang also?

The front & rear on the RX-8 is but the rest of the exterior is The door extra doors in the rear make the RX-8 look chubby. Sport's car are only suppose to have two seats, everything else is just cargo room The interior is really nice, but you can get the same look by just dying your interior panels & redoing your seats, & it'll cost ya less. Plus you can't compare Toyota's quality with Mazda's.

The NA wankel motors and previouse wankel NA motors are good as far as reliabilty goes. the only ones you have to look out for as far as reliablity is the 3 rotor cosmo motor or any forced induction rotary motor. thats when the seal curse comes to kick you in the nuts. Of you can get the mustang. fords lately (except SUVs) have been good on reliabilty and OEM replacement parts are cheap as hell price wise.

I agree, those things do look and sound promising. only thing is you know the market is going to be flooded with them, gt or not, and they will not hold value nearly as well. I would go with the rx-8 cause its a funner car than the celi (driven one). and as for the rx-7, who wants to buy a car with roughly 60-90k miles, especially when those stupids things go through rotors seals so quickly. New car= more reliable= not rusty= not beaten

rx-8 looks nice but IMO it only looks good for a while. its like a frickin miata, small and stuff. i like the looks, its a good car, but i wouldnt trade it in with a celica 03 gts. i think rx-8 aint nothing special, big pricetag with nothing that special. ok seriously s2000 is way better performing than rx-8 and comes with the same price.

I think you should stick with the Celica, to me the RX8 is boxish and not as 'flashy' as the Celica.
Knowing the path and choosing the path are two different things.

RX-8 is a totally different car from the RX-7 just as the RX-3 was. They're siblings. If and when the new RX-7 comes out, that would be the 4th Gen. The RX-8 is the 1st gen of its kind.

My old Mercury Capri was made by Ford, but the engine was made by Mazda. It was a 1.6L DOHC engine similar to the engine found in the 323.

I can't believe how many people are saying "noooo get the RX-7 instead!" They aren't even CLOSE to being the same type of car.
It'd be like saying "Screw the Celica, get an MR-2 spyder!" If you are looking at an RX-8, it's likely because you want a sporty 4 seater, not because you're looking for a rotary engine.
