Missed my celi profusely so I got rid of it and bought my current 2000 GTS )
My first car was a hand me down from dear old Dad, a '78 Oldsmobile Cutless (ugly beige), then I "upgraded" to another hand me down, a '83 Honda Civic in sky blue. I bought my first new car, '93 Honda Del Sol. Then I traded it in for my '00 Celica.
Really BAD reality TV is the reason I stopped watching MTV.
1990 Honda Civic Si Hatch...bought it when I was 16 for 4500 with 55k miles on it. Sold it about a month before I got my celi, which was about a year ago, for 3200 with 197k miles on it.

hahahahaha BMX, mongoose then back down to a beach cruser and, every now and then - a flimsy 10spd from the 70s to make that trip to the corner market when I dont feel like taking the celica out of the garage for 3 blocks (or when i messed up something on the celica and need to get my butt to autozone to buy a new part)

was that the year saturn started advertising their "dent resistant" doors ???
I saw a saturn a few days ago where the door was still attached to the car, but the outside layer looked like it was peeled-off...
What color was your's and how about your new celica?
Isaac,
I think Saturn started advertising them before 94, but I am not sure. Was the one you saw in an accident or was it just falling apart?
My saturn was a Pearl White SL2 5spd. It was a special homecoming edition. Those "dent resistant" side panels saved my car from countless dents. Unfortunately, they didn't make the mirrors out of the same material. I came out of the supermarket one day to find the driver side mirror hanging by the adjustment cable. Talk about a door ding!
My celica is a 2001 Carbon Blue GTS 6spd.
By the way, I like the picture of yours in your signature. Nice job!

TaeMachine,
The colors aren't mixed in the plastics. At least they weren't on mine. The panels were painted. Plenty of chips from broken mirror glass reassured me of that.

Now I drive a 2k GTS

Woah, way to revive a dead thread I must have missed it first time around.
I had a '86 Nissan Stanza Wagon aka the big blue box on wheels that my mother gave me for college.
When I bought my own first car it was a 2000 White Sunfire GT. That car's brakes didn't turn out to like how I drove and it ended up "meeting" the back end of a bmw on the interstate.
Vowing to only buy cars with 4 wheel disc brakes from then on out thats when I got my Celica GTS

My first car was a 88 chevy corsica. It still ran strong with 160,000 miles on the odometer. It was just the little things that all broke. one day when it was below freezing, i put it from P to D, but the cable that changed the indicator broke, so i could never tell if i was in D or L2. It looked like i was always driving around in park. I dont think the engine was really mounted, it might have just been layed into the engine bay. You couldnt sit still in drive without a violent shake followed by a stall. Backing up had to be done quickly too, going in reverse on the slightest incline would lead to stalling. Turns had to be negotiated at or below 10mph in order to keep the feeling, of a car about to flip, away. i'm pretty sure that getting 2 flats at one time would legally total the car. I cant believe i thought it was fast, hahahahah. But now i got my 2000 GT, and with some luck, David Draper's turbo will be on it within 6 months.

1987 Buick Century station wagon. Brownish-purple paint job. Suede upholstery. Fold-down backseat in the rear hatch area. Nice.
TONS of memories in that old car.. "first-times", road trips, farting contests, silly races, and so on. *sigh* It had a sweet 3.4L V6. It was a fast car. It would've been faster if it weren't for that heavy, all-metal wagon body. I smoked my friend's '02 Celica GTS off the line with the wagon, and we launched on sand/dirt. And often raced silly ricers. Won a few times. It's speedometer maxes out at 85 mph but I've taken the car to 110 before. The needle was WAY off. It'd go off and drop down into other areas of the gauge cluster. Also, when I backed up, the needle would go the OTHER way. It was a fun car.
But it finally started having problems (there were roughly 160k miles on it). Eventually it broke down in November 2002 and I finally started my hunt for a Celica. I'd been craving one since the summer. Finally got a job and saved up enough for a downpayment. Bought my fiery red '00 GTS in December. 42,950 miles on it. The dealer sold it to me for 14,950, excluding taxes, title, etc.
It came with power windows, Toyota alarm, 15" GT rims , one cloth door insert, and a leather door insert. But I love my new baby.
Absolutely Red awesome canyon road hugger with impressive straight-line acceleration.
First car I had was a 1994 Ford Ranger (dark purple). Second car is my Spec Blue 2001 celica.
Let me tell you, I feel so cool now that I have power windows and locks. I hated having to reach over the seat to pull the door handle or roll down/up the window and always use my key to unlock the door. What a luxury it is to have power windows and locks.
i use to have these cars in my dreams, , too bad its only a dream Before i use to drive my dads car, 95 Nissan Sentra SER, hes got a SR20DET swapped First car is my Celica

well right now I have the 2000 celica and a 2000 camry for when the celica is getting worked on.
my last car was a 69' nova which taught me that having an 11 second car is cool but getting 5mpg was not
I've also had a 87'cavalier, 70 mustang, and 97 escort. I had a 98 mustang GT that was gonna be my play toy but I bought it new and it had the engine replaced 3 times in the first month I owned it. I returned it under the lemon law and vowed never to buy ford again since I was also having major repeated problems with the tranny of my escort.
thats why I'm a ford hater now along with all the shit I got from the company. so I ditched both those and got the nova for $1,800 lol I still wish I never sold that thing. oh well I love the celica. it's very fun to drive and I just like the looks and how comfortable it is to drive.
first car i drove was a 95 sunfire gt then i crashed and drove a 92 dodge dakota (i kind of miss the truck) now i drive me celi and i love her to death

4th car: 90 Eagle Talon AWD Turbo (damn fast, could have hit 12s, got stolen & raped)

6th car: My 2004 Celica GTS (best car yet, I love it!)

Maybe more I worked for a buy here pay here dealer in Florida for a while and I did a lot of trading. This is all I can remember that I owned for now.
I had a few other cars for only a couple of days and decided to return them, like a 85-88 Cougar. I also had a weird kit car, like the Night Rider. That was junk, had to stay on the gas just to keep it running ever after getting a tune-up. But I did sell it for $100 more than I paid for it hahahaha

Vampyre, how does the Type R compare to your GTS? Just curious, cause I always wanted to own a Type R. Can you maybe post up your view on both cars. I'd like to know which kicks in harder, VTEC on the Type R or VVTL-i on the GTS.
