We all know that gts does not have much torque and i was wondering about how to get some more torque at the low-end?? i know brashboy makes kit that bores the engine to 2.0L, but for 3000 $$$!!! Does anybody know if custom job is safe to drive?? And how much hp and torque are we talking here?

Boring out your cylinders is what you do to a tired ,wore out motor Jae.

you can bore out any engine you want, you port and polish old engins to get new smooth cylindar walls.
i don't think you can bore out the 2zz engine very much because the cylindar walls are already somewhat thin, if you do though i don't see why it would hurt if it were done right, and the corect pistons were used, and if you want torque i would suggest lower compression pistons since you have to buy bigher ones any ways. and get a tubo put in, in the future

A larger cylinder and piston does not neccasarily mean more compression, The shape of the piston and ring gap will dictate that. Port and polish is what you do to Intake and exhaust ports. Cylinders are bored and honed.

Like Celica Racer said, boring out the cylinders is not such a good idea because the walls are a little thin, and if you plan on doing it yourself you're taking a bit of a risk. I think the best solution so far for improving torque. 4 grand is a lot of money, but you do get an intercooler in the price and a fully mapped ECU for JDM cars. Installation is suppsed to be easy too because the supercharger is self lubricating so you don't need any oil ways. Get a couple of friends to help you and you'll probably get it done in half a day.

yeah, I can't wait for the TRD hood to come out for the s/c (if it ever does) i doubt it ever will but who knows. i did read an article on the same supercharger put on the matrix and it only bumped hp a little bit. i'll try and find it at the house but i recall the editors (and it was a generic auto review magazine) stating it wasn't anything to write home about.

yeah but it must be better than the blitz, and still being under warranty doesn't hurt after it's installed either.
- see if you can post that article bro, I'd like to read it

The single most effective way to improve torque N/A is lengthening the stroke. The redline would have to come down consequently because of the higher piston speeds. Try to get a company to make a stroker kit, if there isnt already one.

the blitz SC produces a WHOPPING 30 sumthin HP Yes it raises top end power 30hp... but it's a superchager, not a Turbochager... SO take a look at how it increases power across the board... Superchargers will get their maximum power typically a lot eariler than Turbochargers which have to spool off of exhaust gases where as the supercharger gets it power from a belt..

if your looking to improve power and dont want to shell out that much just get high compression pistons, there fairly cheap compared to 4000-5000 for a Turbo or supercharger, and somewhat safer with the right fuel/air mapping. added bonus is that no one will know they are there unless you tell them.

You'll be making more power at 2,3,4,5k rpms.

I forget where I saw the article now, but they were showing a project along each step of the way and doing dyno testing. First was the veilside exhaust, then there was the CAI, then the supercharger and I think final output was around 260-270 bhp. I'm not sure where you've got 30 from???

well i heard if you get the boost controller, you can actually get the high psi, for more hp. And its 30hp to the wheels, which in reality, its 50 hp gain to the flywheel. like how celica pulls out 180, but its actually 160...And 5000 for 30 hp is pretty ghey. If that's the case, i rather get engine swap

Your still missing the point. 30HP top end doesn't necessarily mean 30 HP all throughout the powerband. the curve of power isn't always parallel..you may gain 30HP up top..but 50-60HP downlow.

CAI doesn't matter when the supercharger goes in, it gets replaced anyways, unless they custom route the piping.

it's obvious that Turbo produces more hp than the SC, but I think if I was going for speed, I'd go with the TRD SC for a number of reasons... 1)it's under Toyota warranty and you're getting a TRD product, and everyone knows that TRD's products are beautifully made with the best quality parts and perfectly fit to our cars and you can bet your ass that it'll be reliable. 2) I remember hearing something that said that the TRD SC is CARB approved. Well since I live in Cali, that's a huge deal because it means it's the only forced induction that's legal. 3) it's a constant hp increase compared to the Turbo which only gives you hp when you gun it and get into high rpm's. 4) I also believe that it puts less stress on your engine and therefore maintenance and engine problems are kept to a minimum which is extremely important for any daily driver.
just my thoughts...

well i think everybody will be getting the trd if they made one for celica, but i doubt if they are going to ever make up, since the new model will be coming soon in 2 years. And gts is too much of high maintainance for the deal to repair, the s/c will create too much probelms in 2zz-ge engine
