So I see in the paper that Best Buy has "Free Installation" on all car stereos. I figure it might finally be time to go get a new deck. I tell the guy what car I have, and he tells me that I better go around back and talk to the install tech about a quote. "A quote" doesn't sound great, since it's supposed to be "free".
The install tech tells me that the "free install" more or less only includes putting the stereo in the hole in your dash. For my car, it would cost 30 dollars to run the preout cables to my rear amp, 30 to rewire past the factory amp, and about 45 dollars for parts. So my "free installation" would be $105.
Screw that crap. Eventually I'll just get sick enough of stock to install one myself.
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you
i have never purchased car stuff at best buy...however all of my electronics are from there and I have no problems with them! but it also helps that i know a lot of people that work there so they take care of me!!! Nate would know more about this stuff because he use to work at a place like best buy!

Dude... same thing happened to me... i went into circuit city to buy a deck... it was on sale for 279, and free install. by the time he added up everything it was at olmost 400 bucks... i was like fuck that and i left... crutchfield from now on.
Best buy aint that bad! i couldnt find the screws i need screw the stock bracket to my aftermarket stero, so i went to best buy and asked them for some screws, they just handed me a bag of assorted screws, four of them worked perfectly...Got my harness for 30 bucks from car toys and some plexi glass from home depot for 5 bucks and did the install in less then an hour
You get free install accessories and instructions.
Best buy sucks.
cruthfield rules
yup thats where i ordered my mounting bracket and cd player from...they threw in the harness for free along with detailed instructions for the diy install
Ive always had great experiences with Best Buy. I just got my headunit from there yesterday, the labor charge is whats free. You still gotta buy parts man, they arent cheap, if they were to give you all the parts for free, they would lose A LOT of cash. I bought my headunit for $180, and then $40 for parts, it wasnt bad at all, plus if anything happens to my head unit within 4 years I can go get another one
Yes i used to work for Circuit city install...what they do for those promotions is they take the price of the install off the price of the radio...so the installers get paid...they just take the shot on the radio
So in reality you did not get screwed...check ur receipt again...ur radio is cheaper
