I took out my cats and now the injectors are firing to much. Has anyone else run into this problem?

iM DOING THE SAME THING THIS WEEK AFTER I GET MY CAR BACK .. HOPE IT DOSENT DO THE SAME THING ... HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY?? DOES IT SOUND GOOD?? AND WILL THE EXESSIVE FIRING ALWAYS HAPPEN????

there is only one cat on the 7th gen celica - do some searching, there is a way to fool the ecu into thinking the cat is still there

the way to fool your ecu into thinking you still have a cat is to get what's called a "black box"...it mounts on your frame and you connect it to the wiring of the oxygen sensors that were with your cat (should be 1 before and 1 after)...you'll have to do a search, but they are made because I had one on the last vehicle I had...they work by telling your ecu that your o2 sensors are still there and working fine...hope this helps a little thumbsup

i have a custom straight pipe wit a 5inch hayame exhaust there's no problem. in my opinion it gives it a more aggressive and fuller tone, especially wit an Intake.

i thought it helps a little bit (not much). i thought it reduced some backpressure when you take it out and thus increasing higher rpm whp?

we noticed the same thing. With the CAT off the car runs very rich. If you do not have something like the Power FC to tune the car I would NOT slap on a str8 pipe. it doesnt really do any good at all.

That is what I thought about doing. But everyone said it would not be worth the gains and I would loose some low-end torque. What are your thoughts?

^ umm...it's 50 state legal, so it meets all the governments air quality restrictions. the cats are there for emissions and cutting back on the pollution tongue

gains & losses that are minimal can't be noticed.

more than likely, driver bias (not hard #'s) is what you use as judgement.

for instance, i add a cai (whoah, i feel the power!. not actually, you really just HEAR it..its only about a 3 whp gain so FEELing anything would be an amazing feet.)

yes and no.

personally, i'm not much of a treehugger. i'm for drilling for oil & florida blah blah blah.

however, i think if you are to drive your celica on public roads, you have a civic duty to obey the emissions laws of those roads. if your state says 'no, don't drive with an emissions hazard sr8 pipe, then you shouldnt.

if you are on private property--thats all on you. but somehow i doubt all you will be driving on is private property

if ya wanna drive with a st8t pipe go at it, but please leave the cat on. Taking it out is not worth the hp. Lets keep the air clean. The noise from the pipe is between you and your cops. Its not like taking the cat is gonna make your car as fast as a corvette. gains are not worth the consequences

i'm getting str8 pipes as soon as my tips come in, but mainly because i'm getting a flame thrower

and in case no one noticed he's from MS, hence NO EMISSION LAWS and cops don't care about sound, there are tons of rednecks with there bug chevy V8s that loud as hell

Are you serious kid? one, with your flame thrower you will need a Fiberglass fire resistant rear bumper that will be a pretty penny. two, where do you plan on using it? at a stop light? rofl

with out tuning you WILL un rich and be slower then you should be. but eh do a before/after dyno and let us know what really happens.

Helping to destroy the air is not worth the .5hp you might gain. Please put the cat back, removing it only makes gains on high powered Turbo cars, where they are a major bottleneck (when you have a 3" exhaust, which you don't). Obviously, the only effect of removing it for you was causing the engine to run way rich, which is a negative.

Wow. All of you people that are complaining that our cars with the cats off are destroying the environment. I figure that with it off, we are still putting out less pollution than Excursions and Escalades.


The way I figure it is that the world is going to hell in a hand basket anyways, and chances are, the world will end due to us blowing each other up, and not pollution in 500 or so years.

Excursions & Escalades do pollute more, but they can carry nine people, which means that three celicas have to be used to carry that many people, so it balances out.

One: it shoots flames away from the car not towards the bumper wave (my friend has one and the flames are no where near the bumper); and Two: no, usually in parking lots (and mabey when someone is riding my ass)

flame thrower doesn't shoot flames every time you start the car or shift like in the f&f, it's on call by reving the engine and pushing a button, and please don't associate flame throwers to F&F anymore, you act like thats where they started or thats where I got the idea, they have been on hotrods for years and thats where they started

This wont happen right away, the test cycle only runs when the ecu is at a constant rpm for a set amount of time, then it sees the sub 02's readings and throws the cel.

Split second does make a generic kit to fool the stock ecu that the sub 02 is working properly, and hence no cel, but with the pfc that wont happen smile

i don't have to worry about that because i don't have a 2 O2 sensors or at least not that i can see, BTW i have a 6th gen thats why i am doing it

Flame throwers burn your back bumper i know a guy w. a celica by my neighborhood and all around his exhaust the rear bumper is all burnt off looks nasty but its ur car do w.e you please

i have a straight pipe, but the codes I pulled off were of multiple misfirings (which is currently under repair now). the PFC would eliminate the codes (if it's caused by the pipe)? and where can I find the thing to trick the ECU if I do decide on that route?

the codes you were getting was another problem all together.

splitsecond has a website just too lazy to look it up.
