i really want to give my car big boost in power and know that forced induction is the way to go. i wanted to know if im running any higher risk of blowing my engine or messing up my transmission by using a Turbo on an auto. a friend of mine said that you have to use exceptionally low boost on an auto because the tranny cant handle it, yet ive seen many cars wit auto trannys running fairly high boost. i already know that i need to change my internals i.e. rods, pistons, valves, valve springs, etc. any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
i have looked into a Turbo for my auto gt also da sports said that they have put a Turbo in a manual gt runnig stock internals and the car runs fine the auto transmission gets really hot from the Turbo, so for an extra hundred dollars they sell a cooler for the transmission its available at this website turbo and accessories http://www.dasports.net
yea, ive seen that Turbo kit, but i dont know, it just doesnt seem good enough to me, ive really liked the c2 designs Turbo but im pretty sure its only for manual. im most likely gonna go wit a custom setup, i just wanna know what risks im runnin by having an automatic.
yea i think ima just go with a custom setup, i can get most of the parts on ebay for fairly cheap. the only thing will be getting a manifold for it, so ill either see what type of Turbo sf is using or dasports, use that same type of Turbo and get the manifold from them. that way all i really gotta worry about is custom piping. when i start adding up how much everything is gonna cost me it makes my head hurt lol. ima be workin so hard savin up almost every dollar i make (except for gas money of course) and then its just gone in a matter of seconds. my tears will quickly be replace with a smile from ear to ear as soon as i hear that BOV though lol
if you want more power why is it a waste of money??????????
TO BUY A Turbo FOR THE AUTO TRANNY SAME AS TO GET A SADDLE FOR THE COW... P.S.If you want more power get a manual ... and trubo.
^^^ Sad but true...
what should one expect, once thine Turbo is installeth'd on an automatic ?
the fastest cars in the world are...automatics...and... Turbo'd... kthx
but we are not going to "be" the fastest car in the world now are we...so do what you want, but i would recommend getting manual tranny for the sake of "fun"...plus our cars arn't meant to be Turbochared, puts to much stress on the little 4 cylinder 1.8 liter engine...get my point, but I have to admit, I would'nt mind being the owner of the faster cars in the world...
if he wants to Turbo his automatic, its goin down a road that most people dont do. i respect that. most might find it pointless, but who the hell cares. its your money. besides, itd be kinda cool to have one of the fastest auto gt's in the country.

it is a waste of money if you think it is a waste of money. some may argue that putting any money on a 4-cylinder car with no tq is a waste of money but oddly enough a lot of people do it? why? because it's their thing and their business and it's what makes them happy.
for people's information DD has sold his kit to someone from north cali and gave him a 5psi boost just so that he can take it easy on the way back home...this GT runs 13s at only 5 psi...of course the kit is sold at 6psi so his 1/4 mile times would be better. read it up on new celica under forced induction. i suggest you talk to david draper about boosting the gt auto and inquire if it is a waste of time...FYI-his first prototype Turbo was a GT auto...
thanks for all the info. see i would of got a manual but first off, it was the only used celica they had left. i bought it from a dealer just a month ago and its a 02 only cost me 13, i wasnt gonna let that chance pass by. also, where i live theres a sh*t load of traffic and i honestly cant stand drivin manual in all that traffic so this was just the better choice for my situation. im not plannin on gettin the Turbo any time soon, atleast another year, but i wanna know like how much its gonna cost me and all. im lookin to get as much N/A power i can get out of it, and then get the Turbo kit. well thanks again for all the info

i feel ya man i wanted an auto gts but that was the only celica no one around here was selling im also looking into buying an Turbo for my auto gt, but not for at least a couple months or longer
I dont see anything wrong with boosting an auto GT, its kinda like an auto Supra TT or a auto Rx7. Same thing. and if ya read sport compact car last year there was an auto supra that ran 9s. soo autos arent that bad and anyways there a hell of a lot easier to drive in San Fran.
