hey whats going on. was looking at my new import tuner and found a add for these carbon fiber rims...look to be real, but most likely a "wrap" with real carbon fiber but they actually look halfway decent..
not real carbon fiber.. you wouldn't want real carbon fiber rims one lil hit and they'll snap
hey thats a 20 minute phone call "if i have seen farther it is by standing on the shoulders of giants" derek: do you know that non dairy cream is flamable Jennie: ...derek..what did you do
if anyone buys these wheels, they should be slapped . for just a little bit more you can go forged and they weigh a lot lighter than these, my motegi ro_ja formula 5s are 18 inch and weigh 18 pounds. they were 1800 shipped to my house.
I'll be the first to say it then.. they look like shit. People are going off the deep end on Carbon Fiber. I personally don't think 19lbs for 17" is all that special either, even though a stock rim is heavier and it's smaller.
If you want light weight rims, you gotta go with 15" steelies or racing wheels.. I don't think anything else compares.

or you can go with centerline or weld racing wheels...18s that weigh 22 pounds, 17s that weigh 15lbs

or you can go with these which could be the ultimate and are available for a Celica. I don't know if it's the 7th gen Celica, but these are amazing...

Its funny how these rims dont have specs on how much they weigh in the ad, when thats one of the most important reasons for getting carbon fiber...
exactly what i was thinking. if i was someone shopping for rims i would stick to the classic method of wheel materials. but i am sure sooner or later someone will get these.
the only way REAL carbon fiber rims would work is if they were forged, but that would cost like $1500 a rim if not more...otherwise it would be super weak and a slight tap with a hammer could dent it

they don't advertise it because 'lightness' is not it's selling point. they are a bit lighter than average--but nothing to get excited about.
these rims are just an attempt by the manufacturer to cash in on the carbon fiber craze.
slidr once said it best: (paraphrase) "it seems that everyone would buy anything as long as it's carbon fiber"
and that's a sad thing, really. my thoughts would be that the craze wears down just like the jdm craze a few years back and carbon fiber will be striclty a Performance product like it should be.
