It all depends on if they are heavier than stock...because you can get 17s that are lighter than stock but expect to pay mucho money. Otherwise yes you will lose some horsepower ... how much ????? who knows you'd have to dyno your car. Someone said 1 hp per 100 lbs but I dunno. But you more than makes up for it in looks Someone else might know. BTW what are the rims you are looking at ? [ 05-09-2003, 12:28 PM: Message edited by: RicePowered ]

I have Enkeis 17s and they slowed me down. I can notice the sluggishness at low RPMs with the new rims, and they're *barely* heavier than stock. Konigs (I hear) are way heavy, so yes the 17s will hurt performance.
If you want 17s and great performance, go with Volk Lights. Mucho Dinero.

i agree, i noticed slightly slower acceleration, however i have enkei rs5's 18x7's... the looks are well worth the slight loss (however konigs are pretty heavy from what i've heard too) and make sure and wrap ur rims in good rubber(i really like my yokohama parada spec 2's) [ 05-09-2003, 09:02 PM: Message edited by: Bradcelica ]

that's the whole cetipedal force issue. 2 rims SAME WEIGHT one is 17" one is 15".. the 15s will run faster because of cetripedal force (larger objects are harder to spin, like when an ice skater pulls her arms in, she spins faster).
