see the holes in the sheild it makes the "ufo's" which you dont really notice with stock lights but with hids you see them. There's actually 2 in each headlamp projector but you only see one in this shot.
I loved having my 6000ks in the stock housing.. this one dude cut me off so i knew where my flares were so i moved my care so it would directly hit his rear-view... it was awesome..then i guess he got scared and pretended to pull over with his hazards on =P then when i passed him he left..
naw i'm just posting this up for the noobs..i didnt know we had flares in our shield till after i got hids...

What's that? What are flares? Im not sure that i understand.
Knowing the path and choosing the path are two different things.
^^ the UFO/Flares I was talking about above. Like how the stock housing has the 2holes which cause the UFO's/Flares. You can't notice it unless you have like hid's or your stock lights are close to the wall...
But when on you might only see 3 circle (UFO's/Flares) since the second circle on both headlights combine when its closer to the wall =P
now the HID celica housing has no holes.. thus no Flares/UFo's
What you could do is fill in the holes in the shield. I haven't tried it but if I was going to get rid of the holes I'd use JB Weld, its great stuff. But you'd probably have to open up your headlamps to do a good job and make sure it don't drip (which i doubt if you mix it right) onto the projector

I've heard of people placing small pieces of metal over the holes and bonding them in place. I just don't want to yank out my lights to fix the problem, so I just live with it.

yah that could work too but actually the jb weld you could put onto the holes with say chop sticks to reach into the area since the jb weld is really thick like in consistency its more like peanut butter thick..

good info good info:) im reading everything i can about HID and still def lost...i posted another Q on the other forum. im still not in understanding of getting HID with 4300K when you can get a normal bulb at 4300K. is there a difference?
2kVeilsideGTS a normal bulb is like an echo.. HID if done right is like a Ferrari
color temp of a Halogen bulb isn't the same as a Real HID bulb as it takes not just a bulb to make the nice HID lighting..
HID technology isn't just some simple bulb you can pick up at an autozone or pepboys so it make take awhile to really understand how it works. Xenon depot's faq has some more info that could help you out. http://xenondepot.com/faq.html
good luck

the HID Toyota Celica Headlamps you can get from the dealer and they will cost a lot.. but its your best bet for the looks and Performance and being legal.. or you could try ebay or one time i saw it in the forums for sale.
i'd do get the Celica HID headlamps but I'm doing a custom retrofit.. seems like it will cost about the same price but i want a Euro style effect to my lights =)

its funny when the oncoming traffic thinks you have high beams on and they flash you and then you flash them back.
ya a couple of the audis and other higher grade cars have these lamps and i hate them when they are sitting on the other side of a traffic light, and im making a left turn i just cant see anything else, i always think they have there brights on, but i know they dont, so i dont bother flashing my brights at them...
if you flash your high beams at me your gonna get blinded and run off tha road...sorry but its them nokya bulbs its not my fault
Interesting - over here in the UK, flashing your high beams at someone means "OK, you can have right of way" eg if someone is waiting to pull out from a side street and you are driving towards them, a quick flash on the high beams means you're willing to let them pull out in front of you. UK Toyotas even used to have the high beam "trigger" labelled "PASS"
*Edit and I just realised I kind of missed the point of WHY they were flashing at you... doh!*
Those real HID's are dangerous to other people on the road! It's just too bright...
I want one...
