It quite funny though, but if someone broke into my car my car insurence will cover everything attached to the car ie. radio and stuff... but everything loose in the car ie. sunglasses, CD's and stuff the car insurance won't cover, but my house insurance will... (same insurance company - go figure) crazy

You have a point about the physical breaking in but then again he has a point on not having a alarm which would of gone off when they even just touched the handle..$99 alarm coulda saved ya man.. but yeah Im sorry to hear that bro.. cry

Even the factory VIP alarm has a sensor in the glass, so whenever someone taps on it or breaks it, it goes off. The factory alarm also goes off if there is a forced entry (prying the doors, etc.).

Did the cops dust for prints and file a report?

The following 10 TIPS are provided by the California Highway Patrol to help you act now to prevent vehicle theft.

ALWAYS . . .
1. Always lock your vehicle.
2. Always utilize anti-theft devices.
3. Always park your vehicle in a well-lighted area at night.
4. Always make sure you receive an ownership certificate when purchasing a used vehicle.

CONTROL THE SITUATION . . .
5. Never leave your keys in your vehicle.
6. Never hide a spare ignition key in the vehicle.

THEFT PROTECTION . . .
7. Install an audible alarm system.
8. When possible, park your vehicle in a secure garage.
9. Beware of your surroundings prior to leaving your vehicle.
10. Beware of high theft vehicles.

Some of you are saying that it's fault he didn't lock his doors or didn't install an alarm. The one's who's at fault is the motherf*cker who broke his window, screwed up his door handle, and stole all his stuff.

To be honest if your gonna go through the trouble to steal half the shit in the car why not just take it grin Yea my car didnt come w/ a factory alarm but I have an app. w/ BB 2maro to have one installed while there doing the est. for all the electronics that need to be replaced. State Farm has been VERY helpful, everything but the CD's (most of which were burned) and my NEW golf clubs (last year) is being replaced. The door is what is F'd up the most, they tried to pry the plastic around the handle, breaking the mech. it wont open from outside. the glass and the tint were trashed and all the glass scratched the hell outa the door and grafs. , and the kicker, the top of the door was pried too(where the glass meets weather striping) and the roof is damaged too. I went to toyota to get the est. done on the door and roof and it came out to 3k, half is in the roof, this includes the the 250 for the new grafix too, from the vinyl place.

Sorry to hear man. How come you ain't hear your alarm when all this was going on? Shit, if someone was breaking into my car and my alarm went off and I could them in the act, they would be some fucked up muthafuckas. I hate people like that. You work hard for your shit and then in the middle of the night assholes try to cop what you got. Wish you woulda caught them in the act...still hoping you can find out who did it. Payback is a bitch.

that sucks ..!! The biggest fear anyone who modifies is ..theft or vandalism. Seems to me that your policy should be able to help with everything except the cd's like you said. The value of the electronic equip should be covered up to $1000.oo Read your insurance contract carefully because most companies do cover automatically upto $1000 worth of stereo equipment. Mine does and i am an insurance agent myself. Looks like they took a lot of time to break in and took time to take everything out. I think the alarm would have a big difference if you had one. IMO...
Also most companies will cover anything attached to vehicle.(installed) ..but you may need to show some receipts.

This is exactly why I keep only burned CDR's of mp3's in my car, in black cases, and slide them under the passenger's seat when they aren't being used. I have a stock alarm, and found that it probably wasn't going to be that much of a deterrent for a determined thief, so I installed a cheap Varad LED scanner ($20). It has a string of red pulsing LED's and is very visible and intimidating looking. I mounted it on the left side of the dash along the a-pillar. I think it would definitely make someone think twice about busting into my car.
