I've been wanting to dye my dash black for a while now especially after painting my center console blue to match my car. Well after A LOT of work I finally got it out. I will be posting pics soon after I finish painting, and if I have lots of time I might post a guide on how to remove it since we don't have one yet. I just finished prepping it for the first coat... and I did get a pic of what my car looks like now on the inside and a before pic of my dash.
Yeah I did do this all by myself and if anyone is looking to do it, I highly recommend getting help! It is definitely a two person job. It took me about 3 or 4 hours altogether to remove it since I didn't have a guide or anything to look at. There are so many hidden and hard to reach screws. And yes, you have to remove the airbag on the passenger side but that wasn't hard... kinda scary tho But when I do get the whole job done I will post pics. Thanks! ~Julia
Hope you don't have to reset the air bag sensor on that baby. If when you put everything back together again and the airbag light comes on and don't go away. Then you have a problem.
I just finished painting my dash and I still have the rest of the plastics inside to paint. Here's a pics of my dash now with my painted center console. Now I just have to reinstall everything...

Thanks! I'm not so worried about the wires, they were attached to clips on my dash so I'll just clip them back in... there are so many screws tho... but it was worth it.
this seems like a common project here recently... It looks good!
What product did you use on the dash?
why not a blue dash? are the doors and door wells up next? i want to see interior finsihed pictures, it tooks ausome... i dont know why toyota just doesnt make the plastic darker in the first place, the grey has more of a glare factor then black...
For the AC Stickers you can email b0x@4sided.com. I used SEM Vinyl die, it's flat black. And yes I'm going to paint the rest of the interior but the dash was the hardest so that's why I did it first. I just put it back into my car and I won't have pics for a while cause it takes some time to screw everything back into place but I will post pics. Thanks for the compliments!

Good choice with the SEM... that's what i used. I used the satin black, with a low lustre clear coat... you did clear coat it yes? If you didn't it will fade in about a year!
i could have given you a decent how-to remove guide. you looks great, but i think you should have done your airvents to match the center console and gauge bezel!
link [clubcelica.com] to clubcelica.com and my interior painting thread, i think the how-to is on page 4, lowendfrequency posted it up there for everyone.

I didn't want to mix the colors of my dash.. I just want to keep it black with my blue plastics. In my opinion I think it looks cleaner and I want to stick with the color scheme of my car, but thanks for the advice.
