Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior Dynomat help!

I bought the Dynomat door kit ... and it comes in 4 large pieces.

Now I am confused. I have taken the plastic panels off the doors and noticed that pretty much the entire door is covered in this vapour barrier (very thin plastic)

Did you guys pull the plastic off, then put the dynomat on?

Or did you put the Dynomat right over top of the plastic?

take the vapor barrier off VERY SLOWLY.

just lift it off, the adhesive will still be tacky, so pull it back slowly so you don't warp it.

Then, place your dynamat on the car where you want to , and then reapply the vapor barrier back and make sure to press it into the adhesive very firmly.

make sure you clean the surface before applying the dynamat...

wuts the purpose of that plastic thing anyways?

to cover the shit in the door in case anything gets behind it...protection.

water protection like he said, the new sound dampening will do the same...

Ok cool ... and what should I do with the wires in behind the vapour barrier?

I'm guessing I should put the Dynomat underneath them, but they (the wires) are mounted onto the door with little plastic things.

Or should I cut out the Dynomat around the wires?

Just put the dynamat over the wires, unless you think you'll need to access the wires in the future.

And the vapor barrier prevents water from the wet window glass from getting inside the car
