I have a '99 convertible with about 106,000 miles on it. I love it but last night after parking it, it wouldn't start. The alarm kept going off - the fob didn't help because I've had the car for 6 years and I've never put a new battery in. It's at my mechanics now - had to be towed there. They've had no trouble starting it up. This is the first time it's happened but I don't want to take a chance of getting stuck again.
I asked the mechanic to disable the security system. He doesn't think it can be done. Is that what I should be asking for or is there another way to deal with this situation if it comes up again. Thanks.
