no don't wax your carbon fiber-hood, its not a paint, its a fiber-glass, so it will scratch it. just use detail cleaner spray, it makes it shinny

The problem is that people buy Turtle "wax" and think it's pure wax. 95% of the waxes and polishes out there have abrasives in them to remove dirt. Get some Mother's pure Carnauba wax. It has no abrasives, and thus will not leave any swirl marks or scratches in your paint or on the hood.

what if your carbon fiber hood is showing worn spots? should you occasional re-clearcoat it?

Depends how much time your hood spends out in the sun, but on average you have to get your hood re-clearcoated every 5-6 yrs.

the best thing to do is to not actually wax it then...
and clean it with spray wax as you would the rest of the car.. but i think you can wax it if the wax is pure.

Occasional re clear coat it? Uhhh no "Wax" is a protectant Polishing "brings out the shine" But nowadays waxing and polishing get mixed together. What the difference between spray wax and liquid wax ? If your re clearcoating every 5 years your doing something wrong. "pure" carnuba wax is harder than soap . there is no such thing as 100% carnuba wax. Just buy a quality wax maybe meguiars Hi-tech wax ? use it with a wet applicator and it will do wonders for PROTECTION!! if your looking for shine use a polish then a coat of wax. theres no difference for care to a Carbon Fiber hood its clearcoated
