Got my new wheels/tires in today and I've gotta wait a few days to drive on them.
But yeah, this is bullshit. I'm gonna ask the guy in the parts department if they have had people complaining of this, and I might just have them service it.
Also, when the A/C is turned on, the light doesn't kick on.
Diablo, I think my A/C bulb is good because people have complained about the same thing happening to them, so what wire runs to the A/C bulb, and not the Rear Defrost, because that still works and lights up.

If the instrument cluster lights work but all of the console and radio lights dont, its likely that you have a faulty instrument cluster. Do this diagnostic procedure to verify that the cluster is the problem: Remove the cluster and jumper the white and green wire on the blue plug to ground. Turn on the ignition and headlights. If the console lights are illuminated then the problem is in the cluster. You can just leave the white and green wire grounded and the console lights will work at full brightness. See the pic below for the location of the wire. Good luck.
Tater, I did this just now, the green white to #10 GRD on the white plug, and it didn't fix the problem.
Are you using the stock OEM radio? If you are using an aftermarket deck, try disconnecting the light lead from it and see what happens. The celica lights function by attenuation of the ground. If that doesnt solve the problem then that's about all the help I can offer. You will need an expert to hands on search out your problem.

Take it from a parts guy. Don't ask for advice. We don't give info. if we do, it's usually bull
When I bought my celi, the console light from the radio to the shifter doesn't work...
But one time and only one time they work for an unknown reason... I was like
I wish I Know what happen...
I'm still thinking it's a bad ground...
One time we check if the bulb have power... and they have... some one told me that the bulb always receive power and when the light are turn on... they are grounded... and then the are lightning up !
but, I don't really know where to start finding the ground...
Mom, I Lost you on April 7th 2004, but I will remember you for ever... I'm missing you
ok jameson heres what you gotta do...did you test the wire at the light? If you still have power then its somethign with ur light. If you dont' have power you can try to trace that back but thats almost impossible...just run a wire from ur dimmer switch to ur light and cut the old wire and tape it up and run a brand new wire...it will work then
Or if you come to the june meet i'll fix it there for you
