alright everyone, I have an 84 celica gts and im trying to mod it as much as possible. its got the 22re engine as most of you probalby already know with 177k miles on it. I wanna put an Intake on it but the square notch i guess restricts me from putting a mass air flow censor adapter over it. what can i do to to hook up my new air filter. What else can I do to make my ride pimp and fast as hell?????????????

hey welcome to ecelica, i've got a 95 and i have learned that 90% of the people on here have 7th gens, hardly anyone has or knows anything about older celicas. i don't know much about your car and don't really have time to research it right now, but i'm sure you google just as good as me, but car mods are car mods, i'm not sure whats offered for your model but as far making it pimp, a body kit is almost always your answer but don't go over board with the lips, graphics, and stickers. andas far as go fast goodies your big ones are Intake, which you can always do, exaust, pulleys, nitrous, internals, and Turbo, there are of coarse many more.
if you want to you can try asking on Toyotacelicas.com they have forums for for specific generations of celicas they just don't have the support like this site

that is not quite true dude.there are a lot of people on this site that knows about the older celicas. with the Intake, what you wanna do is get the adapter fo the air flow meter take it to a machine shop and have it modified. or make a new one altogether. for serious hp.for that car, headers, they are hard to fid though, and you would have to do a custom exhaust.2.5" pipe all the way back. port and polish work including the exhaust port matching is a bitch on that car as well! what i have seen people do was take some off the head(dont know how much though)to up the compression and add a fuel preasure regulator to up the fuel.the tranny in that car can take a beatin. it has a w55 i think nasty gear ratios. ironically the new lexus is 5 speed comes with the same gear ratios! the tranny is built like a tank we used to take the tranny from that car and put in the ae86 corollas along with the 3sgte beast! motor plate has to be made though. its been along time since that car dude!but i do know it can be made extremely vicious with little work.if you by internals and do headwork and run nitrous.(big shot nitrous dude! it can take it!)or even Turbo charge it you would murder a lot of cars at the track. i dont give a f..ck about the looks part, those older celicas were ugly, but they can be made very fast, alot faster than the current version without spending too much money.
