depends. you could put the 2zz in a GT and it would keep up mod for mod smile lol

any car can be fast with enough $$ into it.

i think what he is implying is that I think the mr2 runs the GT engine, and that maybe in some situations the gt would be better off, doesnt the GTS have less power in the begginning than a GT? and also...the compression ratio of the car, maybe a GT would be better off for Turboing?

these are all just speculations, i have no idea...

the car with more power in the beggining will have more power in the end with the same mods...

turbo GTS @ 7 psi will have more hp than a Turbo GT at 7psi

right/...but you could put MORE psi on the gt because of its lower compression, thus maybe getting more hp in the end
anyone know what the Turbo mr2 mkIII puts out, the one TRD did? because thats essentially the same engine if im not mistaken...

GTS = HP

GT = Torque Curve advantage

GTS will win in a staright race, given equal drivers.

Take them to auto-cross though, and it might be a different story wink

Exactly, the GT will own a GTS in the AutoX. This is due to the GTS's 'sweet spot' being in the higher rpms, and the GT's being down low. Since in autoX, most of the time you will be in the low to mid rpms, the GT will take the GTS. thumbsup

It depends... naturally aspirated, the gts will always be better because of lift.

Forced induction, however... is a different story. The 1zz has a lower compression ratio, so it can handle a higher boost pressure than the gts' 2zz can. Keep in mind... i'm only talking about the engines when they have stock internals, because as soon as you start to change the internals, the better engine comes down to which one has more money on it. I bought my GT because i intended to go Turbo... and wanted a lower compression ratio to start with.

gt, you will have more torque then gts no matter the same mods, and the powerband is in the lower rpms, the vvtl-i in the gts will always kill the max psi if going f/i. basically, the best would be to go with the gt, you could put the same amount of psi into both engines, lets say 12psi, but with vvtl-i kicking in, you have to bring it down lower, so, i have to say gts for n/a mods and gt for f/i mods, but the question is which has more tq/hp, it have to be the gt, since you can only go so much with n/a...and of course, more tq and lower rpm powerband!!

I've raced a couple of GT's in autox, and they aren't going to touch a well driven GTS.

On the track, my GTS never sees 5K rpm after I get it started.

Keeping it high in the revs is hard, and it's a lot of work, but it's a hell of a lot faster on an exit than a GT

i used to think this too, but i put down over 125wtq @ 4400 rpms,

thats about what modded gt's dyno at 6K

now given i'm not normally modded, but it shows the potential of the gts with tuning on the bottom end.
