I've started to notice that whenever i have my clutch out and i am not accelerating...i hear a whining noise that is eliminated after i push the clutch in. I would apprecitate it if any one could help and tell me what the problem may be. my car is a 2000 gts with about 42,000 miles one it. thanks for the help everyone

It's a throwout bearing. I have the same problem with mine man. The dealership qouted me $580.00 to fix it. But you might want to replace the clutch disc, pressure plate, rear main too...

i've started to notice that on mine too and i got a 2004 with only 5000 miles on it thumbsdown

Squeaking clutch noises = usually the throw out bearing wink

thanks for the bad news...ill check out a few dealerships first...Does anyone know the amount of damage this can do to the car??

No Damage really all you hear is the annoying sound which may cause a bit of madness to occur. Only thing it may affect is acceleration.
