Yea I rarely use my AC, just roll down the windows and stick my head out "ace ventura" style. LoL but it has been in the hundreds here in San Diego the last week. I've had my car for about 5 months .. used it maybe twice ... Mine works just peachy!

You may need a new A/C Compressor, or you may just need to get it serviced. Take it to a mechanic.

Or you could fix it yourself, but be careful because the fluid inside of the compressor is under pressure!
Go to an auto store and pick up a recharger. I suggest you get one that has a gauge on the bottle. The recharghing port is in the aft passenger side of the engine bay. There is a gray cap marked with an "L" on a metal line coming through the firewall. Start the car and turn the A/C to full cold and on to the maximum.
Remove the cap from the low pressure line and put the gauge on in it's place. If the gauge reads below 25psi then go ahead and fill it to a maximum of 45psi. It does not do any good to overservice the A/C and can damage the systems components.

i am having the same problem.
my AC seems like there is something that prevents the freon
from going. sometimes it is cold, and all of a sudden it
becomes warm. (AC stops but FAN starts going)
i took it to a mechanic, and he said it can be the AC relay
problem?!?
i am going to my Toyota dealer to get my AC diagnosed.

Does cold air come out of the vents, but slowly? Or is there plenty of air flow and warm air coming out of the vents? if warm air is coming out, you probably have a leak within the ac system, and are out of freon. If this is the case, you'll need to take it to a mechanic to diagnose were the leak is at and have it repaired. Not to mention topped off with freon. it's a little pricey, but it sounds like it's pretty damn hot, too!
