Can any of you recommend a good suspension set-up that includes new shocks & springs that will last. I was looking into TRD shock & spring set but it's a tad bit pricey, with labour and everything it comes out to $1834 Canadian and this is getting everything done at Toyota.

I know Bilstein makes the shocks for TRD and Eibach makes the springs for TRD as well, so I wondered if maybe under the names Bilstein for shocks and Eibach springs if it would be cheaper.

I have no idea what else to go with, I hear Hotchki's is top notch for our cars but I believe it's also more expensive.

Thanks. I think roughly that's the same price if you paid $450-500 USD for the parts, because it's $1100 just for parts for TRD, and the labour is what costs over $500 to be put in. But how low is the drop for both of you? I'm wanting at least 2 or 2.5 finger games because you have to have at least three finger gaps here or it's illegal but I don't think of or a half finger gap will be too noticable for the cops.. I hope.

But anyone else? There has gotta be more.

Hmm.. I checked Supra Store and they have a well priced item, Tokico Shock & Springs Package, which comes with four lowering springs that drop the car 1.3" and sport tuned struts..

Damn peppers that is pretty low, I wish I could go low but sometimes the cops can be extremely anal about lowered cars in this general area and there are some steep hills that I sometimes travel.

Are the KYB shocks, shock absorbers (if there is a differance between shocks and shock absorbers I don't know yet) or just struts or what? I still have much to learn.. and I don't want to learn the hardway by having my shocks blow out on me someday because I had lowering springs that caused them to wreck things, because that does happen.

Anyone know if it would be safe to just get the Hotchkis Stage 2 TVS kit that comes with sport coils, sport sway bars, rear camber links, polished front camber plates with strut brace? Or would new struts and shocks be required for that as well?

those coils are pretty low and rough, it'll wear out your shocks rapidly, and you won't be getting the full Performance of the coils. i'd just pay the cash and get some new shocks. try and do some of the suspension work you self.

I have absolutely no knowledge nor the tools to do the work myself.

I think I shall look around for other shocks, because as I said the TRD are quite expensive.. that or I am thinking to just do the 1" drop with TRD and keep my stock shocks because I should be alright, but with TRD shocks I'd get a 1.5" drop I believe, which would be nicer.

It seems like a decent number of people here have the Tokico parts and www.suprastore.com [suprastore.com] has a Tokico Shock & Spring package that seems like a good price so that may be worth looking into and it's only a 1.3" drop which is nice. I'll just have to find a trustworthy mechanic..
