I took my air box apart last night, to get to my linkages to lube them as part of routine maintenance. I noticed the butterfly valve could be removed from the air box, so I took it completely out. I plugged up the tube that went to the valve on the butterfly, and put the butterfly in my back seat. The engine can finally breathe, and it ROARS. it takes 3 seconds to reinstall the butterfly, so if you, like me, are worried about problems with hydrolocking/dealer with having a CAI, it might be worth the 5 minutes it takes to remove the butterfly housing completely, freeing up the airway into the filter. What a difference!

I thought people were just plugging the hose up and leaving the valve in there. I didn't realize it could be REMOVED completely...

Sorry, I have no hookups. I have tons of used bowling equiptment for sale cheap though. That isn't bad. It's only a couple of HP, but it's worth the effort.

I just removed the butterfly from my car too, it sounds much better. But like everyone is saying you won't feel it.

Sport Compact Car did the same thing on their project GTS a few years ago. They swore it made the worlds difference but for whatever reason the numbers didn't reflect that.

well, it's essentially a "ram air" on a 2000-2002 because air from in front of the hole in the bumper goes DIRECTLY into the filter element area, if you remove the radiator bonnet (Which my dealer stole)
It's louder, and runs smoother to me. Anything that lets the engine breathe or exhale better is a great mod
