Just like the title states, the A/C doesn't work now, and the only reason I can think of is because of something I did during the AEM Tru-Power Pulley install. I believe that I plugged everything back in, but what should I look for?

did you remember to route the serpentine belt around the ac compressor?
because you can actually bypass it if you were so inclined to do so.

Yeah, I did. I used the belt that came with the kit, and it fits quite snugly.

Last night I took off the center console and made sure that the button wasn't stuck or anything, and it wasn't. I also monitored the RPM's while pressing the AC button to see if it was kicking on, and the AC isn't even turning on, so I know that I don't need any freon or whatever.
I checked all of the fuses in the interior fuse box, and the engine box, but all appear to be ok. Anyone have any idea which fuses/relays are essential for the AC to work? I looked in the Tech Info section, and no fuse is clearly labeled as an "AC Fuse", so it must run off of something else.
Also, when I took out the Alternator for the pulley install, I remember unplugging a wire connector that plugs into the AC compressor, and I checked, that is plugged in also. Nothing is unplugged to my knowledge, but perhaps the connector blew or something???
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks.

had the same thing happen to me when i had a shop install mine, and i just took it back and had them check it out. turned out they had the belt wound wrong...guess double check to make sure you have it wound right. when the a/c wasnt working, the belt was tight, as if it were wound right.
The belt appears to be on correctly. I also verified that the pulley on the AC compressor is turning fine. I believe that my problem is electrical due to the fact that when I hit the AC button, I do not see any change in my idle what so ever.
Anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?
Oh, and can you test electrical connectors with electrical testers? Ya know, just put the prod on one of the prongs or something??
Aqua Teen Hunger Force...number one in the hood, G
This is fucking gay. I tested the AC toggle switch for continuity like it said to do in the repair manual if your car doesn't idle up like it should when you press the button, and it seems to be fine.
I think I'm just going to take that piece of no good shit pulley off the alternator and put the stock one back on. The pulley on the AC compressor works just fine, and turns, I don't know what's wrong. I think I may just take the alternator pulley off.

Also, when I get home, I'm gonna test for continuity on the connector that goes to the AC compressor, and I'll let you know what the verdict it. If the connector works, then it isn't a fuse, but rather something wrong with the compressor itself. I'm thinking that it may be a bad ground, so I'll run a wire from the negative battery terminal to the ground that the compressor uses, and see if that solves anything.

One of thing that can disable the AC is gauge cluster.. If the gauge cluster is disconnected AC does not work... Just one thing that I can think of... Check the harness and wiring on the AC control also..
Slidr... just replace the AC button LED with another LED... I'm sure you have some LEDs laying around...

Yeah, I'm going to eventually get around to doing that, but that's the least of my problems.
I swapped the fan relay with the magnetic clutch relay, and the relay isn't the culprit.
I'm going to take the car to my GF's dad in a few days, and he's gonna fix it, hopefully. I have a feeling that the problem lies with the connector, the one that goes to the AC compressor itself, I just don't know how to test it.
I'll let you know what it is.

fuck my celica... i just took my car to another shop, and they still couldnt find out what the fuck is wrong with it. it is over 100 F outside...my AC is not working fucking gay
Well.. if they can't fix it after 3 try... you can always lemon it.. I'm not sure how your lemon law is it over there but you should look into it...
ok...i took my car to a shop which my Performance shop recommended, and the mechanic said he is pretty sure it is the relay problem. he wants me to leave the car until tomorrow afternoon tho, so i will see...

Which relay? The magnetic clutch relay?
Cause I swapped the Fan No. 1 relay with the magnetic clutch relay, and the old relay that controlled the magnetic clutch powered the fan.
Would it be the heater relay then?

at least its not that bad while drivin in the HW...
but when youre on a stop light ... it suckz ..
My old car did the same thing, but it turned out that my engine coolant wasn't good anymore.
Buy a tester from Autozone for like $2. It has 3 or 4 little balls in it, and all you do is suck up some engine coolant with it, and see how many of the balls float. If all of them float, then your coolant is fine. If your coolant is bad, then flush the system (tells you how to do so under the hood I believe) and make sure that you have the right ratio or coolant and water in there.
If it isn't the coolant, then the fan on the left side of the engine bay (the one that cools the AC compressor) isn't turning on. Check the relay, and test the connector to make sure that it's getting power.
Those are most likely the only two things that it could be.

did it work before you installed the pulley if so recheck what you did when you installed it.
i higly doubt it is somethign electrical if it worked before hand
Yeah, it worked before. I checked the belt and made sure that it was tight around all the pulleys, and that it was routed right, and it is. I also checked that the pulley on the compressor was spinning, and it was. It most likely has to be something electrical if the pulley is moving, but the compressor isn't turning on.

sinceit worked before then it was something from the installif it is electrical then they had to have done something electrical to teh car.
did you leav any connectors unplugged retrased teh steps of install and double check everything
From what I can see, there are only two connectors going to the AC compressor itself, and they are both plugged in. Everything else is plugged into the alternator.

it turned out to be that the AC control panel didnt work. what my mechanic did is that he bypassed it. now the AC cools like a fucker.
the only bad thing is the AC button wont light up.
slidr, i think this is your problem. you said your AC button wouldnt light up right? try to bypass it.
i paid $100 to get it fixed.
you can also replace the whole AC panel, but the part is going to cost you about $250 before tax.
GOOD LUCK!
Oh christ.
Now I gotta find out how to bypass it.
Anyone have any ideas?
On the Celica manual(not the one that comes with the car) the bible of Celica.. it's in this site... Theck the ac control panel and look at the wiring... Wiring harness will show which wire is which...

This is all I could find. Is this it?
So I have to somehow connect 9 to 3? How would I go about doing this?
EDIT: As for the part labeled in the diagram with those numbers in it, where the hell is that actually located? Is that behind the switch?
Aqua Teen Hunger Force...number one in the hood, G
Yup that's it.. The wiring harness is in the back of the AC control... So yea.. you have to take it off to reach them.. Unless you have flexible arms like a squid.. then you might be able to reach it behind... but I doubt it..
