What exactly is the difference in the GT and GTS. Besides of coarse the HP @ RPM's, the leather seats, and the 6-speed vs 5-speed manual.
Is the GTS supposed to be faster off the line than the GT? because I've raced a few GTS's and several times as far as i knew, they were stock, and so was I. I beat them everytime. Is it possibly because they were just horrible drivers? I have a manual and they all did too, i don't see why i should have spent thousands more just to have a red "GTS" emblem on the back of my celica. My GT rides just fine, apparently that 180 HP Vs. My 140HP isnt doing anything. I get them off the line every time. So are you paying for a red emblem, leather seats, and 40 HP (that don't do anything) ?? whats the big deal about GTS's?

yea with equal drivers though, GTS is a hard car to drive though and the GT is not, the GTS also comes with rear disc breaks stock, and LIFT and yes the extra 40hp does do a lot

There is no question that the GTS is WAY faster. Times for stock GTS's break into the mid-high 14's. Stock times for the GT are usually 16.xx

Man INVCelica up to wat speed do you race them, because im known for shifting really fast beween all the people i hang out with and i can only beat a GTS till around 30 or 40 mph, thats were they even out with me and after that i am just left behind! No way a stock GT would ever beat a stock GTS unless that person does not know how to shift at all!

The 1ZZ was made for more torque and lower end power, while the 2ZZ is a high revving engine that makes power up on top. I havent raced a GTS b4 (i dont drag a lot) but the GT should pull on the GTS at the line.. after that its all LIFT.

The GTS should pwn the launch, because most people launch their GTS from above 6000 RPM... meaning that they are in lift on the launch

Damn bro, 6,000 rpm launch on a stock clutch would wear it out fast, i thought most people launched around 3,500 rpms or 4,000. A GTS would not own a launch (stock), if the GTS driver is good, then the cars would probably be dead even.

BTW, after you look at that... go look at the slips that everyone posts. The 60' is better with the GTS if the person has any idea what they are doing.

All of you that are thinking that a GT would take a GTS on a launch...hmmmm.

You guys act like the GT is a torque monster or something. Let's not forget that the GTS has a higher compression ratio than the GT, meaning that it doesn't only create more horsepower when it hits lift, but rather throughout the whole powerband.

The gearing is another thing to consider.

Aight man, im just saying that a stock clutch would take a damn beating if you did that a lot, i belive you can launch at high rpms if you have a clutch that can take it the punishment.

I agree a 6000 rpm launch on a stock clutch is still suicide...i have an AUTO GTS...and its stomped every GT i have raced...HOWEVER i do NOW have broke lift bolts and its a lot closer...so they may have broken lift bolts. This would defenintly make a lot closer race seeing how in my case i have valve hop at 7600 rpm now, so i am shifting (manually) at about 7400 rpm.

a mustang? i beat a mustang in my GT, i also smoked a camaro... I honestly don't see the difference in my GT and some of those GTS maybe one of you should let me borrow your GTS.
My car's engine is all stock, all i have is my muffler...and that gives me what...max of 7HP? 147 HP? vs those base model stangs n camaros, i dont see where HP does anything in these cases. are those cars just a lot heavier?
what if i told you i smoked a vette stingray grin...well i didnt...i got killed... cry

a GT doesn't get that much hp gain from a muffler/exhaust alone...a GTS doesn't even get those numbers on that kind of mod.

it would be very difficult for a modded GTS to beat a stock mustang GT

I have 11:1 internals in my GT 5 speed, and can own auto GTS's, but the 6 speed is a DAMN beast!! I've never beaten one...Lift makes a HUGE difference, aside form the 6 speed close ratio gearing...the only chance you might have to keep up with a GTS is to get some wild cams put in your GT...I'm eyeballing the new catcams cams (serious duration), with a standalone management system (greddy or Apexi PFC) I know it will make a pretty noticeable difference, but I still don't think I'll beat a GTS regularly, if at all, and I know damn good and well that I wouldn't be able to contend with a GTS stock to stock...that's just not intelligent rice

^ very true, man new guy you probably beat V6 Mustang or V6 Camaro, because if you say the Mustang was a GT you are clearly talking out of ur behind! I can beat V6 Mustangs an Camaros but dont come close to a Stang GT or Z28. Do you have a muffler or a axle-back????
